Listen to it, didn't like it much. To Jamaican dubby reggae with vocals and no chill out vibe in my opinion.

I like the dubby tunes the most - serious ting and barracudub, as well as strictly goodness feat. Kenny Knots...

these tunes are tried and tested with consistently great results, and yes indeed they are a long way from ambient and chill out.

one thing i do notice is that around the world what is in or out of fashion tends to differ. i.e. some people still listen to trance whereas here on the West Coast it gets very little airtime relative to other sounds like dubstep and breaks.

Where Gaudi nails it is that the great majority of his audience get caught up in the positive groove that he lays down, and they are having a genuinely good time. That kind of vibe spreads, and sells albums and gets more quality bookings.

sure thing that on the west coast all the trends arrive a couple of years later.
the american continent is off the edge about music trends since Jimi Hendrix.
(ah, now I get it...this album is for the american market)

positive grooves, people having a good time, sell albums, get bookings, make money..and such...
a formula that already worked for M.Jackson, Elvis Presley, Madonna, and few others.
what you describing here Andrew is the typical attitude that goes under the name of...POP music, POP fashion, POP stars !

(a shame he is not on interchill anymore hey...but you might get some boost in the sales of the prev album tho...cross your fingers)

I reckon that the guy did too much television...it eats your brain.

video killed the chillout star...ahuuu

Mau

Since you seem to feel you have your finger on the proverbial trend pulse then do enlighten us as to what is going to arrive here on the West Coast music fashion wise in a couple of years from now...?

Gaudi did a great album with us and for sure his work with Six Degrees boosts sales of Bass Sweat & Tears - he's getting major bookings and has a solid label behind him. People are discovering his music every day and of course those that like what they hear will dig deeper. There's nothing to stop any of the artists we release going on to other labels. Often it makes best sense for all.

You have spent a bunch of energy and time being negative about your old friend, his work and his intentions...

for what purpose ?

mmm...let-s see...maybe in a couple of year they will discover minimal techno...ahahahahah...

you are right man...instead of being negative (as usual speaking your truth is labelled as negative by the "always everything" positive thinking ppl)...
I should instead jump on the train and get a lift up in the charts myself too...

it is time to (l)earn

the new gaudi album is infact freaking cool...awesome...earthshaking...
i will remix it with my iPhone and RJDJ...be ready.

I was his best mate...get my album too !
(on interchill too !!!)

everybody in the house now...jump !

ohi...ohi...ohi...

yes maux/xaum/whatever, what exactly is your issue?

i dislike the seemingly unquestioning adulation of various artists such as the twisted records bunch and others...i would even go so far as to say they are overrated and some of their music has not stood the test of time. that is the problem with dance music though, isn't it? i also don't believe in relentless positivity but...

your criticism seems bitter to be honest - as though you have been messed around by these people or are perhaps jealous of their success?

you also don't seem to like any music that is in anyway popular, ie: tipper, shpongle, blah blah. i am surprised that you seem to rate greg hunter and master margerhita as both those dudes seem quite well respected in this forum which usually means you have to rubbish their music...

i dare say you seem to be a bit of a snob...

a bitter snob...not the best combination old chap...

maybe we could have a separate topic for Mau related debate and such... that way his personal truth speaking and people's reaction to it [and viceversa] could really stretch out and expand and yet, importantly, not attach itself to threads about other people's music.

expressing yourself honestly is admirable and liberating - but far less so when it is done at the expense of others. Each of our personal senses of authenticity, our ego, are just not that valuable...

Gaudi and Greg Hunter have a collaboration track on the Haiti benefit cd. I've not heard the finished version, but what I did hear when it was in progress a few years back sounded very tasty.

Check the Gaudi album if you can - www.sixdegreesrecords.com

there's a great video of Bad Boy Bass and a free track for you to download.
