Looks pretty cool. Like how it can double up as 2 decks. I am in the market for something like this but am looking for something with a mixer included as cash is very low.
Wonder what the price is going to be like here in the UK.
I know Numark do something similar called the Total Control but from what i have seen online it looks a little plasticy and some people on their forums seem to have problems with it... |

I had a Numark Total Control and sold it in less than a month. It was a fun toy, but only really worked with Virtual DJ (or CUE as it was repackaged for the controller) you could remap the controls to Ableton as it was just a midi controller. But the inherent problem with DJ midi controllers is the hands-on effect is lost due to latency.. its a tiny tiny delay, but fast activities like scratching feel totally impossible.
I took it to a few gigs.. and I ended up using the mouse to do a set, totally ignoring the controller!
Also the Numark felt totally flimsy and plastic. I've also tried the Bheringer and Vestax products and I think they have a way to go before they replace CDJ's.
It would be better if these devices buffered the audio into the device, rather than send control signals to a computer - thus avoiding all latency and CPU spikes. |

cheers for the feedback Tomos.
Very interesting to hear and glad i did hear it.. Makes sense and what a pity that the latency basically hampers operation to such a degree that you would drop it in less than month. Something like that would irritate me to no end and would probably do the same...
Well at least now i know..
*scratches his head wondering how to now afford a pair of CDJs & Mixer* |

I have hard to see that latency should be a problem with a soundcard that has good drivers.
If it's ok for producing it's ok for DJ'ing IMO, and there certainly is no difference when it comes to latency with DJ controllers compared to regular controllers.
It could be that the built in soundcards in the all-in-one DJ units have high latency.
Maybe if I was a scratch DJ I would think differently.
The controller looks nice, but again I'm not a scratch DJ and have no use for the vinyl emulation.
It has too few knobs and buttons for my purposes at least.

The latency wasn't through the soundcard (5ms according to Cubase) I believe it originates running over USB and in the DJ software - as an Ableton controller rather than with the bundled software it may work better.
But it really did 'feel' like when turning knobs (and also when observing their movement on screen) they were a just a tiny bit behind my movements. |
