DelphiLive - Where is Delphi Going?
Here is the disclaimer I have done my best to get my notes correct, but I may have missed something, slides go by sometimes too fast for those transcribed what is seen and heard.
Here are some of my raw notes from the first two sessions:
Four Delphi Projects going on at the same time.
* Project Weaver
o Main Themes
+ User Experience
+ Enhance Connectivity
+ Documentation
o IDE usability
o Team Productivity
o Touch
o IDE – Insight (easy Keyboard access to almost everything)
o Improvements to DataSnap
o Firebird Support
o .NET AOP
o SCM Support
o Enhanced RTTI Support
o Attribute Support
o Seamless .NET <> Native communication
o Windows 7 APIs and Direct 2D
o Full Support of SOAP 1.2 Clients
* Project X
o Cross-platform Windows, Mac OS, and Linux
o Cross-platform component library
o DataSnap on all platforms
* Project Chromium, Quality, Quality
o Quality, Quality, Quality
o Pascal Code Formatter
o Documentation of the OTA
o New Data binding model allowing binding to almost any property on a control
o More integration with the database tools.
* Project Commodore
o 64 Bit native
o Full compiler, RTL and VCL support for 64 native
o Multi-Core. Multi-threaded applications.
Sure it's not much more than a bullet point list... But several of the items are very intresting. The order is not defined... Other than Weaver is expected next.
I am sure more details will be coming from the Labs sessions.
We did see a really cool Touch Demo!

original author of the topic is.. audiojunkie!
what does that mean for flstudio is..
propability for a mac version of fl ( the new compiler is cross platform)
64bit support
win 7 appis and direct 2d means that all the new features and enhancements of win 7 can be utilised by flstudio.
full multicore support!
looks like very good news and an long awaited update to the delphi language!
dont wait to see anything of these in fl9
but maybe fl 10 will incorporate some of that!

that would be cool. but it needs a plugin wrapper that converts the fxp data from winxp-vst-plugins tto the equals on osx. then i will also buy a mac as my workstation
but i think it will not be true that we see a native fl studio on osx. |

actually the latest 8.5 beta 3 supports my new multicore system . i still use 32bit win xp and wait till win 7 is stable and all plugins are working on this new system. at this moment i have no trouble with my 4 gb ram (only 3 are adressed by xp).
