Damnit, they deleted my reference to the Seamoon track posted on their FB page. They KNOW they're stealing. |

If they didn't pass it off as all their own work - and they were honest about the origins of the music - it'd be pretty good. |

If anyone can identify any other tracks on http://soundcloud.com/newdelhi_project please re-post here. Least that can be done at this point is to get all the unauthorized material taken down.

Hello! I used to be responsible for the vocals in NDP tracks before. I am a singer and not responsible for the tracks that were played. This came as a surprise to me as well and I have nothing to do with NDP since then. I am not administrating any NDP pages on any social networking sites. I don't agree with any of audio and/or video being published. I myself, am trying to get in touch with DJ San. Who is spoiling my name. I understand your concern and strongly oppose this most pathetic practice. Sincerely. Pankaj Awasthi
Please do check my ORIGINAL music on www.soundcloud.com/pankajawasthi |

yes this is lame, but really this isn't a big deal if you think about it. DJs get paid to play other people's music all the time and they don't announce who's track they are playing. even further, there's a ton of dj's who post mixes to soundcloud with no tracklisting but people don't get upset. there's some "band" from new york which just consists of a chick playing the flute over psychill tracks and people like them.
this guy who's trying to pass this off on his own will never make any money (outside of a few rupees for playing at an event) or name for himself with this practice, so I don't think we have to worry about any lost revenue for the artist. if the guy wants to be a hack and a phony, let him...he won't get far. at least he has good taste highjacking a Seamoon track, lol.
DJ's who are secretive about tracklists are a far bigger problem, IMO
edit: wow, even the singer is disowning this clown; that must hurt. please don't take this post as defending this DJ San, just some thoughts... http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector |

@vector_0: what you're referring to are soundsystems, if you look at just drum and bass for example there are hundreds of DJs who perform with an MC as a soundsystem. No difference in the setup here.
The issue here is taking a track, doing a vocal dub and then putting it out under another track name without any attribution whatsoever. no remix, no edit, nothing but "new band - new track".
big difference.
agree with your bit about taste though it makes me more upset when people with good taste do this crap.
