My name is Abrahm from Iowa and the name of the set is Action Potential, which refers to the "all-or-none" firing of the neurons in our brain. Basically, it is a high-energy, very psychedelic mix. hope you enjoy!

this is the only mix i have recorded so far, but i hope to get another done in the near future.

hope you guys like it, feedback is appreciated! right click > save as:

(sorry for no tracklisting, i will improve upon this in the future) some artists featured: Penta, Highko, Mubali, Paranoize, Entropy, and others...          Abrahm

just bumping so this will be added to the new "DJ PROMO MIX" thread.

by the way this is not "hardcore" dark, it is more MELODIC-DARK for those that care to listen.

I really liked the opening song.

The mixing was good too.

I think i heard a little bit of slippage but that could be my untrained ear.

Overall I thought it was superb. This is a great full-on mix.

Dig in everyone. This guy has skillz like napolean dynamite.

lol @ "youre not fooling me"

haha thanks for the comments guys, i know the first track is pretty heavy but i had to open with it because of the awesome and relevant quote about "revolution of consciousness."

i get lighter towards the end incorporating some Electrypnose, Dissociative, and what not. not the MOST melodic, but definitely dont want people thinking this is one of those 150bpm slaughter-fests hope you enjoy, thanks for the feedback           Abrahm

you like your slaughter slower and more sensual?

i'd call this 'twilight' psy. there are some good and some classic tracks in there and the mixing is ok. i wouldn't say it's exactly 'smooth' - seemed to have a few transitions where the basslines and the mids weren't really flowing together, so it could be either your mixer's EQs or some of the track-to-track flow may have to be reengineered to try and keep the track evolution more gradual.. but overall, good job. keep it up.

thanks lots guys.

and to Dimitri, thanks for the constructive criticism. i really like quick and powerful mixing, but obviously certain basslines do not run together as well as others. also, on a live system, the bass is much more powerful and "felt" more than "heard" which makes it harder to distinguish between less-matched basslines.

thanks for the comments everyone!           Abrahm

the crowd can definitely feel it when the basslines change - it's one thing when you want to purposely change up the tempo, for example if you're playing 4-5 tracks in a row with a rolling bassline, you can change it up to something a bit more funky to great effect. but changing the basslines with every track can often be detrimental to the 'trance' you are trying to induce. same with the mids/melodies.

it could be just the diference in approach - with the more full-on psy styles, i am a proponent of the classic 'psy' mixing (no, not trainwrecking!) where the transitions are as smooth as possible and the flow evolves very gradually. i know other DJs, many of which came out of the techno scene, who like more 'proactive' mixing. I guess it comes down to what you are trying to achieve and whether it works or not - but that's something you can only test when playing out.

i definitely swapped the basslines in excess in this mix, and i am proud to say that it was the first and only solo mix i have ever recorded. it is roughly 3 months old, and i am proud of it by far, and i cant wait to make another. i now incorporate some more gradual mixes, as well as the hard cut mixes, all with the intention of "making it work" with certain basslines, hard-cutting works AWESOME, with others, a more gradual, suttle style of mixing is required and must be perfected. like you said, the trick is making it work thanks for the advice and comments everyone, psytrance has changed my life           Abrahm
