I have a problem with that remark since it has no backing. First off, Apple computers are fricking betamax and BETA IS BETTER but do you see BETA movie rentals at your local video store? Really?!
The bottom line is that the CoreAudio package in OSX is quite nice. However if you are not the type of person who looks at a press release and then just jumps in their car to guitar center or whatever you have little ability to try out new things before you decide you want to use them in your publications.
HOWEVER! people seem to fail to understand that it is not the CHIP/CPU that gives us problems, it is MOTHERBOARD DESIGN!!! For example the VIA KT133A released about 3 years ago (Athlon was not XP yet) there were SERIOUS problems with audio playback because of the design of their chipset. The same chip in an ALI Magick1 chipset caused Logic to work much more smoothly.
I hear reports that the nForce2 chipset is a real winner, and as an audiophile I just don't trust VIA. It is a good idea when buying a motherboard to see what chipset they are using--not just how much memory and onboard crap is on the board.
Macs ARE better if you have the dough, but that doesn't seem like many of us b/c we are all talking about Athlons which are half the price.
Also remember that a 2.1Ghz chip means NOTHING if it has to WAIT for the next 133Mhz cycle for MEMORY it should have CACHED in the chip! Read up on chip design and then look at Mac when they have the new IBM chips in them.
Apple's coding practices are also flimsy. compared to windows, no contest but I just heard a couple days ago that VSTI support is NOW HERE IN LINUX so everyone watch out--stability, threaded host apps, protected runtime space for plugins it is all coming. Less crashing and more you can run (my box is now 40% faster (even with the L2 cache OFF) than before when I was running Debian. I use Gentoo and my entire OS except the kernel is compiled with GCC 3.2.3 with -O3 -fomit-fpointer (kernel is -O2 still)
Keep on trackin'!

With no overclocking?
Well mine reaches 55c max, after hours of working.
I guess it's not dangerous.

The model that you got has less heating problemms. I guess AMD solved it finally. I had very high temperatures like 70~80 C.
Tried to deal with it but not too good i guess.
When i'll get the new processor i'll use special thermal grease and faster fan.
55 C is pretty good temperature i guess.
