Hey guys, i have a friend who made some really nice tunes and he wants to release them. His style is melodic trance with some cosma/atmos influences. What label should he contact and how.
I mean what he should put in the demo, how many tracks, should he put them in Lo-Fi. Hope to hear some advices from the pro's {Yuli, Skazi, Huja, Mr. Hanky}?

i believe 3-4 tracks, different from each other would be a good compination..

high quality of course...

labels (unfortunatelly not always) don't give away music that gets into their hands... plus they will play the tracks at parties, if they like them...

so there's a small possibility to lose anything and a big one to hear your tracks at a party ;)

as for the labels, i thin the best way is to check the newest releashes and compare with his style of melodic trance, although labels do "take turns" if the track is really good...

best of luck to your friend

If it is somethibng like Atmos and Cosma, he can send a promo cd for Spiral Tracks... or Free form... but it depends on the style... what do u mean with melodic psytrance? Progressive sound?

Actually i don't think that the guys ever heard about atmos or cosma, and he is rather influenced by Yahel and Paul Van Dyk sound but anyways it's better for him to sign in local trance label and not get in troubles with some holland or british label.
The music is not really that far from cosma or infected anyways, he just got different influences.

My opinion is that he should send the music in the best sound quality he can.
To the most lables (that release that style or close) he can.
If he is afraid of rippoffs he can put some brakes in the middle of the tracks with a sample that says For promotional use only.
