Ok, Ocelot. We have yet to see if this new sounds of yours is really new. I was listening to your previous releases and they belong to dark trance, by the way great tunes. As for the name, it sounds worse than dark. Neuro sounds like neurotic, but let us see if it sticks.

from an outsider's point of view, dark trance misses the point completely when you actually hear the music.
Neuro sounds pretty spot on.

ocelot tracks always stood out of the "dark" genre and for me it was one of the very few acts i could go dig to in boom 2008's nights... got the "dark" atmosphere but lotsa psychedelic juice allover it and its not too fast

anyways im waiting to hear a track that fits your definition cuz if its anything like the track that was posted here it should be interesting

best of luck!

Okay ocelot, make a mix of the best example of neurotrance you can come up with

I'm following what you're saying, and I came to the same conclusion as:
Quote:
as far as i can understand,i think this is gona sound like suomi with hard basslines

... and more cleverness hence the neuro part.

Which is actually a really good idea. But the name itself, I agree neuro is too specific and too negative and automatically has darkpsy connotations, since I have heard people call the 150-160BPM darkpsy...neurotrance to differentiate it from just regular dark psy.

Show us this neurotrance and we'll name it Do a mix or atleast name some key tracks that you think are onto this.

and why did u think about that

i kinda agree with pipe&slippers...most of ocelots stuff, and the artists he listed arent "dark" at all...so saying that is way oFF

saying neuro or (just) psychedelic makes alot more sense...althou neuro leans more towards triping material, more mental less dancefloor stompy (u can still stomp to it like a horse )

Please explain how "neuro" is too specific and negative for starts..

It's good to see Neurotrance getting fine tuned as it goes. It's came a long way since it got coined Neurotrance over 7 years ago..
"Neuro" is a prefix in words for concepts and topics in relation to the brain, no? Is that too specific and negative? Is that too much info for the the Neuroelectric Circuit of the brain? All realities are neurological-patterns of impulses received, stored and transmitted by neural structures.

Subjects like Dark invite the Neurotic Culture to the table for debate with its structures..

It's interesting, with all the advancements in psychedelic research, that some feel it's just psychedelic trance as if its only Drug music..

Darkpsy is a bad name for the style because it is not all dark... there are many different approaches grouped under a title that really doesn't fit. Neuro has always seemed like a suitable alternative to me, but we don't get to decide (though we may suggest). Taxonomic terms emerge from regular usage... and "darkpsy" is what people are using to describe this music.

What would the most parsimonious division of sub-styles be? Darkpsy, psycore, neuro, forest...? And what about some specific examples? Xenomorph is easy to describe as dark, but what about Parvati? Ghreg On Earth? Kindzadza? Mubali?

A bit late on saying that.. the decision in suggestion has been made a long time ago...It doesn't matter does it? It's not like it was created in Goa, so we can't name it that..

Darkpsy, technically is an artist but you peeps wish to insist its a style, then by all means tell your story..

What about Parvati or even Mubali? Parvati is a label and Mubali is a person who thought Neurotrance was coined by two States in the USA

I like to call most dark fast psychedelic music "trauma trance" or mud trance , machine gun trance , motor boat to nowhere trance , helicopter attack trance , laser battle psy , scissor battle psy , glitch over use psy , alien drug muzak ect ect ect.
neurotranz makes me think of re-programing your brains pathways through some kind confusion and over stimulation, which some of the music does. either way its a very cyberpunk term, Neuromancer trance?
but hey even in psy what Arron is talking about also fits in with this concept a bit

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurofunk

maybe minus funk, but the message is the same and the search to describe and classify goes on.
demoniac said it right though, for psy to be psy it just has to be psychedelic
with the way this topic is going i hope its not ment to split up the scene or artists into any more subgenres, enough of that
good topic anyways
