alright this party was such a blast. We arrived around 1:00am and the dj's on were Milo vs Superliminal, a couple of guys from Monterrey. I must admit that their set made me a bit apprehensive. You could tell they were having sound problems, but that wasn't my major issue, my problem was they were playing either a very boring track or something fluffy through most of their set... So, we took the opportunity to check out the party a bit. The sound was big, 5 top cabinets for each side of the stage and 5 subs on each side, they were EAW cabs. This sound system, although it had some problems, thumped far into the Monterrey mountains. The deco was pretty well done, but also minimal. There were a few big geometric blacklight structures, and a big screen in back and two smaller circular screens on each side of the stage. The deco was done by a group called Geometrika from Mexico City i think. The visual artist/ video mixer was very good and super dark, his name was Corona Chakra. Cool mixing of Lord of the Rings, some sci fi stuff, some Hindi stuff, some martial arts, and alot of animation... very wicked to trip on!!! The location was a private ranch in the valley of some mountains, I'm really not sure what direction we were going in, but this place was pretty nice. Huge palm trees everywhere and nice mountains surrounding. after Milo vs Superliminal, Mexican Trance Mafia came on to do a live set. It was about 4:30 am or something. He played a good set of full on sounds. Lots of the squelchy hard acid sounds and lots of good crunchy melody, the track with the sample "Marijuana gave the Mexican super powers" got the crowd going for sure. After MTM, DJ Trojan took the stage. I'm not sure where he is from, but he is a Mexican dj. This guy is a killer dj. Very good dark music throughout his set, with some very interesting mixes and good crowd interaction. He played some Azax and some Grapes and finished off with Seroxat - Tahoo Vavohoo, and if you haven't heard this track on a big system yet, trust me it gets the floor very crazy.

As Trojan was playing Fred(Neuromotor) started getting his gear set up for his set. Immediately the crowd got super excited and started bustling more towards the front, with the crowd starting to chant Neuromotor and people really getting into a frenzy, Fred graced the stage. It was probably around 5:45am. Fred started with his Neuromotor live set, and I have never heard music this powerful, his new stuff will really get you moving. He was really working it and going crazy and the people were going crazy and screaming and stomping so hard, it was really good. Then, Fred pushed it too hard I think, the left side of the stages sound completely died, then after about a half a track more, there goes the right... Fuck, we all thought, the party can't end right now. The sun had just come up and Fred had been playing for only 45 minutes maybe and hour. Fred noticed me out in the crowd and asks me how I am doing. I tell him incredible, and he says, "Yeah, but the sound system is fucking up all night long..." Fred didn't appear too satisfied with the party ending right here... So, everybody took a seat and waited to see what was gonna happen. After about 20 minutes, I guess they figured out the problem, but the comprimise was that the live set couldn't be finished. This sucks, because, not only did the Neuromotor set get cut short, but Fred was gonna do ESXS live as well and that couldn't happen. So, Fred was stuck with doing a dj set, but like the true preformer Fred is, he made some lemonade out of the lemons and threw down an amazing dj set. I think the dj set started up around 6:30 or 7 am and he didn't stop playing till 12:30pm. How could he, the crowd was going insane for him, really having a good time. The tracks he was playing were mostly new, with a few oldies thrown in here and there. Fred has some really amazing new music. Including a Salt N' Pepa remix, that's right, Push It. The track with the sample "We must Fight the System, Fuck the System" is the best. He weaved our minds in and out of reality and built up one of the best mixes I have ever heard. I love the way he doesn't dwell on a track, he just picks apart the sweet spots and never lulls the crowd, he just keeps you pumping for hours on end. In the end, he jumped out into the crowd and stomped away with us to one of his tracks, then jumped back up to make sure and get the mix out. He invited people to come up on stage and stomp the rest of the set, and numerous times, he refused to stop playing when the promoters wanted to end the party and start tearing down(I've never seen a dj tell the promoters that the people weren't ready to stop partying, that it wasn't time to stop.) This was very cool!

So, yeah that was my long-winded review of one amazing party... Don't miss your chance to be a part of the mental intensity that is created by Neuromotor. He will be here in Austin with some friends that are also nuts on Nov. 20th, he assured me this weekend he plans to leave the Texas trancers with some very tired legs...
