NEED URGENT HELP PLS :(

hello there mates
my dam problem is , i have resintaled OSX and upgraded everything , and i have formated my laptop ASUS and i have puted the XP pro like is usual , before i format both computer my networking was working very fine , with any problems etc .
after that i have create the network with no probs , in the preferences / network in the mac system , i chek the network status and the green light apear OK with firewire or lan . but before formating i was sharing one folder on the D: on the laptop called mac folder , it was a shared folder , and each time i go to macintosh machine i press the finder and i go to network the computer name DarkPSy (laptop ) apear on the network area in the finder , and when i press this before formating both computer it ask user and pass and when i put it would ask wich folder it would open ( in this case would be one of the 2 shared folder i have " mac folder" ) but now after i format the pc's everything is same like before but now when i go to the finder and i open the darkpsy computer i put the username and pass ... but this message apear " THE ALIAS "DARKPSY" COULD NOT BE OPENED, BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL ITEM CANOT BE FOUND"
now firewall are deactivated on laptop and macintosh , and i have internet passing from the laptop to the mac , in the mac i can see any webpage without probs , but sharing DAM impossible , i can't access the shared folder on the laptop
anyone help , becuase im on a deep urgence , i have some things to pass to this laptop for i can send to 2 labels , and to pass some DVD samples from the laptop for the mac to finish some works on here
reaallly need help pls
really dam urgent

yes, check the file sharing on windows. it can also be that the username or password are wrong.

burn it on cd from the mac and use it on the latop
maybe if the file are so big u will use a feww cds..
but if it dont work thats a suggestion
and check in ur windows if everything is setting fine
sometimes its a bit comfusing coz i remmeber try to link up my 2 computer and i had to do trial and error b4 it work

well file sharing is enalbed on windows machine , and pasword and user are correct , its really dam strange , and about burning it would be to much cd's .. since i need to pass lots of things from the windows machine , and on the laptop i dont have dvd recorder , and this is now the best way , if network exist its for beeing used ,,, but this shit is not working ,, DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Does the other way around works, connecting from the windows machine to the windows file sharing on the mac ?

Sometimes networking is a headache! I have one and I find it faster and eaiser to transfer files with a USB thumb drive. It's quick, easy and better than all your old tracks and samples and stuff ending up in a land fill on cdr's. Peace http://soundcloud.com/chemical-reaction |

Both computers need to connect to the same workgroup. You probably need to do this with your laptop. Go to the icon my computter and right click on it. Select properties. Select computer name. Select change. Do the same for both computers and make sure the same workgroup name is written.
Check this link if my advice doesn't help.
