U can try:

a) Use different sample with better click.

b) Layer short hihat with kick to add more punch and presence

c) Use sidechain compression on everything else triggered by kick. I prefered use compression only on mid and leave side uncompressed.

e) Find kick click freq and use eq to make room for it on every other elements.

These are just basic methods but sometimes very helpful

the punch of a kick is the amount of Hold after the attack before the decay

you can use a comp to simulate this flat area but thats where youll find the thump

so all of the above with the flat bit in mind

Use transient shaper to emphasize the click, using too much compression can reduce the bass thump so be careful - cause then u'll bring out the mids/highs even more and u'll start to EQ it out and in the end the sound is over processed making it lifeless/detroying the dynamics.

Best advice would be watch tutorials and synthesize your own kick so you know it's on the correct root note, etc. Audacity is good to use, SYleth1's kicks lacks power imo.

Layering 2 kicks can also be a solution- one with a nice thump other with a nice click. Using volume to bring out the necessary elements within the kick sound.

This gives you even more control as you can process both samples differently ensuring interest in your ongoing beat.

Try a different kick. the kick lacks mid/high. With that you ll find you might also have to adjust the bass to make it work.
it is best to start with the best source you have. Get a good sounding kick, good hats, snares etc. Might take some time. But patience is golden           soundcloud.com/supergroover

Hmmm... cant get the kick to punsh trough...
Then do a better mix?
You didnt say the kicksound was bad, just that it wasnt going trough in the mix.
Assign a parametriq eq on all channels, and cut room for the kick, emphasise on the punch/click on the kick channel and voila.
Nowdays my tip for getting louder and cleaner sound us to eq and cutting.

stay away from compressors, samples are usualy allready compressed and you can distort and destroy a nice sample by overcompressing the kick.
Ive done a really slow paced tutorial on the subject, but maybe any sidechaining and mixdown tut would do?           http://www.beatport.com/release/the-awakening/1180641
