you will need a strong pc. (depends of how much you wanna spend)
cpu : 1000Mhz and above (for running Cubase good) memory : 128M ram at least. S-card : there are some between 200Nis - 10,000Nis (i recomend for begginers Delta 66)
for you i recomend to use couple of programs that will let you build up a trek easly :
Fruity Loops 3 + Acid
after you learn the basics and you feel like you want to get up a level try :
Cubase 5 + Sound Forge
this is my opinion so listen to others too.
GOODLUCK

My opinion is that is you buy the Delta card, it will be a problem to sell it later. Save some money and buy yourself "Luna" - 1,500 nis:) |

well i got to the midiman shop and there was the solution for you - Unbalanced :
Delta 44 Specifications: • 4x4 24-bit/96kHz full-duplex recording interface. • PCI Host card with external audio break-out box. • 4x4 analog break-out box accepts balanced or unbalanced connections on • 1/4" TRS jacks. • Analog I/O configurable for +4dB and -10dB signal levels. • Measured D/A specs: 103dB (A-weighted) dynamic range, 0.0015% THD @ 0dBFS. • Measured A/D specs: 99dB (A-weighted) dynamic range, 0.0023% THD @ 0dBFS. • All data paths support up to 24-bit/96kHz performance • Powerful digital mixing, routing and monitoring capabilities. • Drivers for Mac, Windows, NT, Linux, and more.
Delta 66 Specifications: • 6x6 24-bit/96kHz full-duplex recording interface. • PCI Host card with external audio break-out box. • PCI card provides S/PDIF inputs and outputs on RCA jacks. • 4x4 analog break-out box accepts balanced or unbalanced connections on •1/4" TRS jacks.
For conclution the main difference is the numbers of I/O's ;)

What are the benefits of buying the more expensive Echo products (such as Layla24) Over the Luna2 2496?
Does the Layla24 offer any advantages over the Luna2 (including the 2496 breakout box)? I know both use converters from the same manufacturer (AKAMI) and that those of the Layla24 are slightly better, but convertors dont cost that much and cant explain the gap in price! Furthermore the luna2 comes with the creamware environment which is far more superior AND with THREE DSP processors!! (those alone are more attractive to most ppl then a slight improvment in D/A A/D converters quality)
If anyone could point me to any PROS in the layla24 that could justify its price Or CONS in the Luna2 2496 I would be very grateful!
- In this question i've used for the example the more expensive Layla24, but my dilemma consist of other card which cost more and offer less (has no programmable dsp) such as the - MUTO 2408MK2
Aardvark products
Delta 1010 (mybe not cheaper but in the same price rate)
Etc.
Should I buy the Luna, or would I be enlightened, Plz help!
10x IsrAlien

Well you showed me that the delta is just another, full duplex s.card! Check the Pulsar/Luna information...those are good and high quality cards:) |

Delta is really not for beginners I might say. This card is mostly used in professional studios because of the sound quality! Mostly delta1010 , but delta66 also.

IsrAlien, this is for you.. look on the number of I/O formats it supports, and a number of Audio channels it can record. http://www.motu.com/english/motuaudio/2408/specs.html
Aardvark systems on the other hand, inspite the fact they don't have a very spectacular sales, have a nice combination of I/Os : Direct Pro LX6 has 4 ins and 6 outs(for people with a synth + mic + guitar) and another thing for Freq Freaks: the card has 7Hz-44KHz frequency response! plus it has midi I/O. tell me which card has this thing ?
hope this spills some light on the prices.
BOM.
