nice q man ! let me tell u a small secret ... music is very simple !!!! all the idea is standing on loops , which means , a pice of sound which runs over and over ... the hard part is to find the sound .... ;} but lets focus on the loops ... what u basiclly need 2 do is creat loops and us a sequencer (sequencer = a softer which lets u set in order your loops = fruty , cubase , logic ... ) to set them in order . espaclly in trance - 2 start - u need 2 make the drum beat which is 4/4 , or , boom , boom ,boom ,boom .... and then the highets , which basiclly is 1/4 ... boom ,boom , tsa more ? |

dear dwarf, you can try this: if you have no musical knowledge at all, it's not the best case, but try to record some things that will remind you your ideas (record your self or something), then 2) take a familiar tune like song you know, or a track you know, and begin recreating it with reason. learn how to edit the parts, how to use patterns, how to play with fx, how to use the automation and record it etc. after you do 1 - 2 songs / tracks you know, try changing them, and after this you should be able to basically control the program you work with.
3) then begin implementing your ideas you recordedin stage 1 - now u know how to do what u want ...
good luck.

Try by learning reason and most of its function first. After that it will be much easier for you. |

It is very impotrant to know thr program in and out.. before you cancreate some good tracks... because you will be trying to do something and not be able to execute the sound ur trying to create... Therefore learn the software.. Its also always good to start with a KickDrum.. 4/4 and Bassline and then build on that.. It helps... |

Man, i don't know if my advise will help you, but... When i started (almost 5 years ago) there was only Acid 1.0, Rebirth, SoundForge... no Reason, nothing.. I tryed to make remixes. I didn't know anyhing about trance (i thought trance is... i dunno.. Prodigy's "Your Love"). I made remixes on pop stuff.. you kno... I was looking for a track where there was vocal without drums, bass, synth... just vocal... and clear main theme... U open this track with SoundForge, rip the vocal and theme. Then you make beat and bass in Rebirth and mix it all in Acid. Yeah. I did it. Shame on me ;) ESS sound card ($5) and... ehm...dynamics? Something like... But now it is absolutely crazy to do this. Don't do it! ;) Use Reason, man. It is VERY convinient. You have got a lot of sound, any sound you can develope, change... NNSampler is great. Redrum is great. Everything is cool. And try to experiment. Rape this sound until you'll get something new. Or until the sound will rape you ;) |
