k you asked opinion here goes mine
One (emu) has got more knobs, other (m-audio) you can do beats...hum...tough and personal choice..best thing is if you can try them somewhere, their touch might make it an instant decision....I have played with a m-audio oxygen and the keys touch was pretty bad, it all felt a bit like a plastic toy but the Axion looks much better. |

Hi
I have the Axiom 61 and I chose it because of the following:
Also faders, which I like for envelopes. (only the biger ones)
Pads for beats
Start stop play buttons, which is absolutely great for working intuitivly.
I liked the design.
the keys are ok. But "the semi weighted" feature is just a bad joke. It means the keys are higher than normal and look more piano like. There is almost no difference in playing to cheap ones.
I personally like the keys being flat and cheap. I don't know why, but I like it. So I don't like that the keys are higher (as piano) than normal keyboard keys.
But it's ok, considering the pads and the start stop feature.
One point against the maudio is that it is maudio which is very often full of bugs... but I still chose it and so far it works...
One thing I have to find out about it is, how to configure (hopefully possible otherwise I wouldn't recommend it anymore) the endless knobs so that one rotation is from zero to full. Because per default I have to turn more then once around to go from control 0 to 127.

i've choosed the Emu Xboard 25 because it has more knobs. The m-audio has the pads but with a drum sampler i can do the same thing with the keyboard.and 8 knobs seems quite limiting.
I've already ordered and theres always tha coise of returning if i dont like it.
Thankz for your oppinions
