the basic pattern is
1) closed high hat on every 16th
2) snare on beat 2 and 4
3) open high hat 1/8th after the kik (eg the unz tish unz tish)
velocities are very important, for closed hh, if its a 16th pattern ill usually put the velocity at hssshssshssshsss where h = midi velocity 100 and soft = midi velocity 90-95. for the open hh i might go --h---s---h---s- its only slightly noticable, but adds to the grove.
i got waldorf attack yesterday, its awesome. i could never find samples that were exactly what i wanted, and now i can just whip em up in attack.
use something like NI battery to trigger samples if you're going that way. the vengenance club sounds cds have some good samples too.
i usually knock the levels down to between -10db and -15db. some selectively eq notches on the highs can take out the harshness (unless you want a harsh sound of course). high pass it with your eq as well.
oh and once you've eq'd it, wack a compressor on it.
i usually also create a group track with a reverb, and send the hats to that at 90%-100%
im still not quite happy with my percussion, i still haven't figured out how to get them "smooth" like you hear in tech trance, but thats how i start off.
cool track too |

hey Talibense,
there´s a site called vipzone.com i guess...they offer sample loops 4 free every month...there are nice samples for drum stuff, u just hav to equalize and dist ore something..for hihats and snares i prefer Thomas penton sample cd or there are a lot of others on the net...
just play with them in your sequencer, listen to other tracks and get ideas !
note: your track is clipping or overcompressed, get a better line in it.
..i got payed by vipzone ehehee........................

Hit hats - i suggest you go to your local hat dealer and bring a microphone and hit some hats while you record...
while you at it try and hit some beret´s aswell!
a bowler hat will give you alot of omph, might have to cut some low freqs to make room for bass and kick
Good luck

Hey Talibense.
i think your bass is overpowering your kick.
cut the bass on 50 hz, so it wont get alot of sub.
and sidechain it as well.
other then that, i think the percs' samples are fine...
