In Logic,

you just play another midi chanel.
And on the Q, I guess u need to set another sound on that current midi channel.

I think it's programming Q much more than porgramming Logic           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Neogen
i dont have a Q but the thing is in your synt u should have multytrimble mode then y can switch chanels (if you have 16 so u can switch betwin 16 chanels ) on each chanel u put a presete(sound)in logic u adjust the right chanel to each sound (chanel 1 u heare the sound that in chanell 1 in your Q)the midi output shuold be the right midi output the your Q conected to if
very important that the Q will b in multytrimble mode then on the Q display you should see the number of the chanell look for any butten that swich betwin the chanel it must be one butten who do that           TEN LA BA SHNEYTSOL

Hi

Hit the multimode button on the Q (it's down near the red dial). You are now in multimode (funny that).

In Cubase select a track that has its MIDI out set to the port the Q is connected to. Select channel 1 in Cubase. Press Instrument 1 button over the Q's display. This is the patch that will respond to the channel you have set up. You can change the patch via the two knobs under the display. You can change various settings related to that channel by using the dial.

You can access the rest of the Q's channels like this:

2 - press Instrument 2
3 - press Instrument 3
4 - press Instrument 4
To access parts 5 - 8, press shift + Instrument 2 then to access channel
5 - press Instrument 1
6 - press Instrument 2

and so on for the rest. I'm sure you get the drift.

question to neogen and parasyke:

we've had a micro Q for quite some time now. we've used it for many trax, but we feel that it's just not living up to expectations. something about the sound that we just don't like. very good for pads, but not very flexible with leads. it's sounds a bit to brittle and you can't seem to get away from that sound, no matter how you filter it. and that's another thing!! the filters are also not very flexible.

so what's your opinion about the synth??

I have a nord 2, and i just got a micro q. I must say it is alot harder to get a tight crunchy lead sound on the q than the nord i.m.o....

Damage -

My opinion of the Qs is that they sound totally unique: there's not a VSTi or another VA that sounds like 'em.

I do know what you mean though. They all have a really hard sound, edgy, scratchy: mean, even And I agree that they can seem a bit samey because of this, but I found that when I started doing a bit of deep programming, they really go beserk. They also need to be very heavily modulated - I use SX rather than the mod matrix for most things because I can draw in the exact mod I want. Unless I want to modify a modifier, in which case the mod matrix is better.

The best simple trick I've found for changing their sound is adjusting both the mixer and the drive levels a lot. I generally send osc into the filter at low levels (60 max) and I find that this makes the filters seem quite a bit more responsive. Secondly, the sound of the drive/res changes too - I use quite a bit of drive. The combs are also great for seriously weird sounds. Also, if you have a virus, I suggest routing the Q's unfiltered oscs through the virus' filters... Yum. They don't seem to need (or even benefit) much from compression either.

Oh, their filters are a bit different from the Roland model that most other virtual synth makers have employed: they don't lose much bass at the bottom when the res is cranked. This is the reason they don't sound as 'tight', say, as the nords do. This can be exploited - and remember it's much easier to EQ a sound out then to put one in. I have gotten majorly squelchy sounds out of the Q.

But they definitely have a distinctive sound and they do require a little patience... We can discuss this some more of course if you like

well micro q ...
sure there is some weird staff with this tool
it's got this sound which follow u along
the presets ....
it's easer to work with external editor since they
compact this master into a poor rack metal ...
best 2 dig in after small joint ,
but if you not much into manualls and books
go 4 the korg ms 2000
