i'm am going bonkers over here trying to figure this out

i just purchased two mackie MR5 studio monitors and have set them up but there is some noise....like a ghostly high frequency drone and a few scattered very high frequency, but relatively quiet clicks.

the audio is coming from an Edirol FA-66 interface via 2 balanced TRS to XLR cables. The interface is connected to my macbook pro via firewire.

the noise is not present in the monitors when i turn the interface off. also, i do not hear the noise in headphones connected to the interface's phones output.

a weird thing i've noticed is that in the split seconds when i'm opening/closing/switching through tabs in firefox the noise goes away.

please please, if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it           http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector

Was it AirPort? Ive noticed sometimes I get noise and clicks on my monitors and when I turn off AirPort it goes away.           StarLab - Label DJ/Artist for Digital Om Productions

it was actually the power supply to my laptop. If i unplug the power cable and just run the laptop off the battery there is no sound. i switched from the 3-prong adapter to the 2-prong one (sorry this may not make much sense outside north america) and that cut out almost all the sound. I was told that if I get one of these http://www.ebtechaudio.com/humxdes.html it will eliminate 100% of the noise           http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector

Grounding problems would definitely do that... yup...

Also plugging everything into the same electricity source is very important...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
