use sound forge acid creation tool,
that will give you the bpm for 1 bar (4 kicks) |

There is a couple of VST'i that will sync your loop. I use one called beatburner, there was another with nicer interface and sound manipulation possibilties, but a bit buggy. BombThatBeat i think it was called.
In logic you can so like this:
If your loop seems about, say one, bar long.
Select a bar in the arrangement and the loop part. Then press...was it the 'h' key i think...
Now you will have the tempo of the loop as your master tempo. Strech or pitch the loop to the tempo you were working in, change back your master tempo and your'e done. Off course this way enables you to use higher quality stretch/pitch algorithms than with real-time software like the VSTi's or Acid. |

in logic you can match the tempo to the length of a loop.,
it has that option for at least 3 years now
ooh.,
sorry,
you're all on cubase or fruity
edit:
and i see i'm being redundant.,
sorry again

spindrift.,
what i also do often is
after setting the tempo to the length (with the key, but i always redefine a lot so it's not on 'h' here )
i do a strip silence on the audio.,
and set the option to keep the parts on the arrange window.,
then i set the tempo back to what i want
and i have the audio nicely cut in pieces and on beat., .,
greets.,

in cubase, simply press a long click select on the arrow fom the transport window, select the arrow with the "time" feature on it and easily enough match the loop to the nearest bar.
now it "sits" right.

ZillDoggo,
yes, you normally have to do that to loop them....but I am to lazy normally to use the stretch in logic...so I use the beatbreaker mostly... shame the bombthebeat was so buggy though, cause it's nice with recycle type segment manipulation. I can't believe there isn't any good VSTi's to do that yet. |

use phatmatik pro and all your loop timing problems will be finished
its a very good vsti with high quality algorithems
lots of tweaking to do
good fx
filter
and it realy fits any loops to any tempo and not only loops.
but cubase fits loops to tempo and not only that you can also cut it in segments automaticaly in cubase just like rex files and it does it pretty good
and you will have the option to manipulate them in a midi channel to like rex files
use the cubase manual and you will find it
only on sx-sx2 though
and zildoggo fruity has its own fruity slicer plug in that it does a good job

Ahh, I tried that some time ago... but somehow didn't get along with it then. Kinda fildlly interface what i recall. Has it been much updated lately?
I sure will have a look at it again, because it will for sure be better that beatbreaker, and hopefully not lock up my arrangements sometimes like bombthebeat. |

I haven't had any issues using Phatmatik Pro.. I actually like it better than recycle... I'll have to check out beatbreaker and see what that's about.

i still dont understand why several of you wanna use tiiimmeee sttreetchhh..????
just do groove control..!
much better quality, and you can play with the parts and
make your own new loop from the parts...,
remove kicks, change snares... etc..
if you really really want to strech it, use acid and
export a new loop from there with the new bpm, and you dont need to know the original bpm to do so. |
