how do you cut garbage out? do you mean you choose notes that are clean. and the other you delete? |

basically yes but it's different stuff everytime.
sometimes I cut out some of the tail (decay) of each note. Sometimes I filter some frequencies completely out of the sample. Sometimes I can duplicate the tail if it's clean to get a very long sustain. If you are careful you can do very good job but if you just copy and paste it will sound obviuos.
If I hear that in a take one note or chord is very clean and sharp I reuse it (copy and paste on top of the same cords that sound little worse in the same take).
I also don't want to over do it to give it some sense of being natural because I do guitar live.
I call it micro work and I do it last because it can take lots of time. Sometimes it even makes sense to rerecord the whole thing with a little different setting. It takes some time to be able to see it from the beginning.
For that particular sample that I uploaded I cut the tail (decay) and the some of the head (attack) so it sound very clean in the part with the doubling effect.
