yes, i understand you. and many people see it like that. if my "studio" wasn't my sole room (also bedroom) i wouldn't be that cautious regarding the insulation material, too.
i'll buy some cellulose panels and sacks and start experimenting. the sound in my room can't get worse than it is now anyway

I installed 2 big sacks with cellulose (12,5 kg each, 110 kg/ m³) behind my desk yesterday - and my subjective impression is that the bass does really sound better now (more flat and quiet) even in the room-corners. Not as "boomy" as before. I didn't measure the results yet though.
So I can recommend this method. And you can't go wrong anyway, because it's really cheap and quick - you won't have any effort apart from transport.
