iv moved to a new appartment .....
the studio room is a little smaller but almost the same as the last appartment ... made a similar wooden customised table for my setup

heres the problem .... my lows and mids are getting screwed .... the bass is resonating to much and both the kik and bass have like a very thumpy and slight reverbed feel ... cant here any independant bass notes clearly also

i assume its a standing wave fuckup im facing ...

so what should i do ? apply foam ? rubber thermocol under the monitors .. around them ??? where what how

also im running the same exact setup i had earlier ... but the room dimensions and objects around have changed slightly

need to fix this problem really sooon ... beeen months iv worked on my setup (all this while crappy headphones ) and im really waiting to get started again

I'm having trouble too. I have a fairly large room (about 10ft x 12ft) and there is a clear echo. I'm totally broke and I'm desperate for cheap ideas to reduce the bouncing of sound.

Check these panels and bass traps, i think they're pretty reasonable for the price:

It all depends on whether you want to spend money buying ready made acoustic treatments or designing your own..If you go the D.I.Y route you can use either rockwool or fiberglass (owens corning 703/705) to make your own bass traps..

The first places to treat are the corners and the spots where the corners meet the ceiling..This is where you would put the bass traps..

Other places would be the first reflection points on either side of you (sit in your mixing position & have a friend take a mirror and move it along the wall, wherever you can see your monitors is where you need to place a panel)

Then you can do the spots behind your monitors and behind your seating position..With bass traps generally the more you have the better your room will sound..

Its usually best to have a mixture of both broadband and bass absorption panels in the room..

If you can afford it i would recommend these panels:

Here's a cheap bass wave remedy for you

Easiest way to make a bass trap is buying a pack of Mineral Wool. It's really cheap as well.

Just place the package under your table, don't take of the plastic package, because it's not safe to breath in the dust that comes from that.

Of course it doesn't kill reflections of the room, but it's quite ok bass trap It's actually recommended by our teachers in audio engineering school for the easiest and cheapest bass trap

Just be sure to not open those packages so you don't get that nasty harmful dust in your studio.

Because of that dust it doesn't really fit for reflection killing on the walls because you can't open the package.

I have my desk in the corner of my room.
So this means, that my right monitor is in the corner of my room and the other not.
Anyway, last week when I was playing some music on my pc, I was just walking around my room doing some things, and all of a sudden I felt a deep bass coming my way.
So I walked from left to right to see where and where I did not feel the bass.
And only in a straight line from my right speaker did I feel the bass.

I think this really has to do with the reflections coming from the corner.

Should I apply some foam and stuff behind my monitors, to keep the reflections away?

Hehe - are you serious ? So if this guy is banging away at some tunes, jumping around, really enjoying his track and kicks the damn thing by mistake, plastic opens up, he breathes in the dust ....

Does'nt sound like a good idea to me.

It's not adviced to breathe mineral wool particles, some people can be alergic, but surely ain't going to kill ya.
You can just roll it in fabric, and won't worry about it at all.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

the guy says abt this do it yourself acoustic treatment:

In a word ASTONISHING! The once muddy room now sounds fantastic! I can hear pristine mixes, much sharper sound stage, clear imaging, and much tighter bass lines. My studio has never sounded better! I feel like I'm finally getting to hear what my studio equipment and monitors can do. Installing acoustical treatments as described above will help absorb bass frequencies, reduce standing waves and low frequency reverb time, help control flutter echoes and ringing, and a controlled lesser amount at mid and high frequencies. This is where all home/project studio owners should begin in their quest for better mixes. If one can't afford commercial products then one should DIY.

I just covered my studio walls with high-density rockwool & cloth and built superchunk basstraps in the corners. Finishing the job next week, but the room already sounds really tight and controlled. It's the some of the best few-hundred euro's i've spent on my gear-habit.

I sprayed the rockwool with hairspray before applying the cloth to reduce airborne particles and this works.
