Hi Guys !
I need some advice how i can apply a layer or something that will protect my hand paintings. I paint on cloth and have my paintings hung up on my walls but they get to dusty after a while. So i was looking for some kind of protective layer. The layer shud not affect the fluro effect of the painting. Also i DO NOT WANNA FRAME them.

Any help appreciated !!1

Cheers

Hi
Did you try to apply a translucent varnish as the final layer? I think that will protect your paint and keep the colour over the time and dust.

Watch out or test that transclucent varnish, as it can turn UV white under the blacklight so you need to be careful. My suggestion is to buy some permanent spray fixative & spray over the entire painting, but do this outside in a well ventalated area or else you will get high from the nasty fumes Spray a few layers, making sure they dry in between each layer.

I would recommend only using acrylics, because then you should be able to take a cloth over them any time and clean them (they are plastic based & do not smear). Not to mention they are archival (holds up over time and doesn't fade). If you are using tempra or a cheap sort of waterbased paint, not only do they fade, but after a few years they will start to crumble off the cloth, if you bend them. Not good. So stick with Oils or Acrylics.

Anywho I hope this helps! Good luck!

varnish usually hardens so you can't bend and fold the fabric without damaging it, be carefull with this stuff (i tried)           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. Get a free 250Mb Artist profile, Blog and events calender!
