Basically i bought my first midi controller about a month ago (novation x- station). I've never used any hardware before so have no idea how it all works. I'm on a mac btw.
The problem:
When using it in ableton, it receives midi signals (the little square in the top right flashes) when i move faders etc, and the keyboard plays notes happily, however when i go on to the midi mapping mode and try to assign a fader to a track volume for instance nothing happens. I've tried everything i can think of but as i say i have no experience whatsoever (neither do any of my friends) so i could easily be doing something wrong. Also, to make it more confusing, when i run novation bass station plugin, the midi controller happily moves faders on the plugin.
Can anyone tell me if they've had this problem/ what they did to fix it? Or am i just doing something wrong? As far as i can tell it's all set up fine. I'm running it through the USB port, could this be the problem, do i need a midi interface?
Any and all help appreciated,
Ben

go to Options -> Preferences and under Midi Sync check what you have for your Midi Ports. there are three things you can turn on for your midi inputs: Track, Sync, and Remote. my guess is that Track is on, but Remote is off. |
