Hello every1
My name is ori and I live in Israel
I m new to this forum
I hear electronic music alot and recently i decided
to try to make some by myself.
I think I have good and unique ideas in music and I am very creative
I have couple of questions :
1. Do i have to know how to play on any musical insturment like guitar organ etc.
in order to work with electronic music ( cuz i never played before on any instrument )?
2. What is the best program i can work with ?
Is Cubase a good program for begginers ?
3. What kind of equipment i need to buy in order to start with and the prices of this equip
4. thank you all for answering

1. No, but it helps a lot.
2. There are many programs you can use. Cubase is not the easiest for a beginner, but don't let that put you off if you really want to go for it. Programs that might be easier to start with include Reason, Fruity Loops and Ableton Live.
3. A good computer is the most important thing. Prices for the main sequencing software you'll need start at around £200. Unless you're totally happy programming with the mouse you might find a controller keyboard handy; these start at around £100 or maybe a bit less. Also, the better the speakers and (to a lesser extent) soundcard you have, the more easily you'll be able to make the music sound good.
4. You're welcome. Be prepared to work hard to get good results Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

2. cubase for beginners, i dont think so. reason is realy good to learn how to use any important classic parameters for making music. means how to connect the channels, chains, standart effects, using oscillators & filters, modulation, last but not least arranging/timeline.
later if you are feel comfortabel with all the functions you can check out cubase, you will even be able to import reason into it. this will make things easy for you.
3. a fast CPU with a good cache and many ram.
if you gonna find out that you realy want to make music dont buy anything after the PC and software ( ) before you have monitors (100-300€) for beginning is enough
if you have a big budget, dont be stupid and buy yourself 2 hardware synthies, 3 DSP-cards, a transient designer, a 64 channel controller, ...etc. Cosma (RIP) allready explained in one of his interviews why beginners should start with small equitment.
and keep on trying, trying, trying...

I have to disagree with both of you guys about question number #2 .
The best thing is to start from cubase!
That way you can learn everything and start straight from the top programs and you'll experience its abilities etc ...
I did that and i am very happy that i did that.
Bottom line : START FROM CUBASE
that can only help you
good luck Gozer |

i have a good computer (amd 3200+, before i had a pentium 3 1000mhz lol), 2.1 speakers and headphones (both cost a total of 50€ lol), onboard sound card and no midi keyboard.
this means you don't need any special equipment or any special musical skill to make it. just lots of listening, reading and training.
eventualy after producing for a couple of time you'll start to feel your needs. the mosft obvious is a good soundsystem (it is my main problem) or it will be hell to make your music have good quality. midi keyboard is an handy tool altough i can make my melodys without it (i'm not really keen at playing) but it is an essential thing when you want to play live.
so for going pro or making money you'll need that special equipment... a pair of good monitors (essential), a midi keyboard and a good soundcard. the rest may also come handy but at the cost of lots and lots of money and it's not essential. |

I think you should study music, piano electronic music is music so learn how to play....softwares made it possible for people without music knowledge, but it`s better to speak the languaje.
Im not saying you have to spend years in a music school but at least learn the basics, chords, scales and son on......believe me u will never regret it. |
