Hi Guys,
I have read numerous threads and reviews on the controllers and I have shortlisted these 4 boards.
Evolution 461C 61-Key
9 assignable 35mm faders, 12 assignable rotary knobs, 10 assignable buttons
Edirol PCRM80 61-Key
8 Knobs, 8 Sliders, 9 Switches, and 2 Pedal Ports
Novation ReMOTE 61 Key - 8 Knobs, 8 Sliders
Novation X-Station 61 Key - Also an analog synth
I went to a local store to check out some of these controllers. I wasnt able to find the Evolution, but from a user review I gathered that the keys are amazing but the knobs suck?
Do the knobs on the Evolution suck?
How is the Edirol controller? It has fewer knobs and sliders. Is it durable?
I wasn't able to find the Novation ReMote on display. Never used it either. So feedback would be great!!
With the Novation X-Station I will be extending my budget! I have never used the X-Station so I have no idea about its presets and sounds. How does it sound? What kind of sounds does it produce? How functional is it as a midi controller?
So I have to choose between these 4 controllers. I am having a tough time trying to decide. So if you guys could guide me a bit with ur practical experience with these controllers.

i have the 461C and its good. i don't know how one would say there's something wrong with the knob. They aren't infinite, but i guess the other controllers don't have such knobs either.
You should also compare prices... isn't X-Station quite expensive? |

Hi
My advice is go with the X-Station
*exelent for live preformence
*the best controller ive ever used(you can control cubase mixer,VSTi,external devices..evry thing you chose to control)
*Great synth with great effect section(you have a new bank on novation site, very good one
*sound card-24bit/96kHz and you have an option to 32bit(you dont need this)
*2 inputs- 1.microphon 2. giutar
*Great knobs(you have infinite knobs)
*combined modulation / pitch bend joystik
*aftertouch sensitve sami weigted
*prorammable X/Y touch pad
and many more....
try to read about all the keyborad's and see what gives you your need's or use the forum search to see reviews and problems with those controllers

hi. maybe you should consider 1 of behringer models! they have 1 with knobs and 1 with faders. both models R hi quality and both have 8 endless knobs with push function. these R great for scrolling and selecting from preset menu etc.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I have decided to not go for the X-Station since its sounds arent of my style. It is for more trance/prog stuff. I need darker and more sinister sounds and I have a plethora of them through the VST's that I have. So I can't spend the extra cash on something I won't be using much.
Ok, so now I am down to the:
1 Novation ReMOTE 61 key.
2 Evolution Mk461C
I think Behringer is not making any keyboard controllers anymore. Plus I don't trust that company anymore after experiencing their "Truth" monitors.
My main preference is the ReMOTE but the Evolution doesn't seem bad either and its half the price. I have to buy a controller in a few days since a local store is having a blow out sale.Which one would be a better buy?
As a reminder. I have never bought a controller before so I do not know about the practical usages of the extra functions. I found a review on the ReMOTE and it talked about all those functions and most of it kinda went over my head.

Curious Y u didnt think about the maudio keystation pro88. its about 300 - 400 $.
I find its 88 full size keys r very expressive & it has many programmable midi faders, knobs & buttons.
Do u guys not like this for sum particualr reason? |
