hi guys so im working on a lead and i want to add delay only to certain parts of it and the whole thing, also need to be able to control and automate which parts to add delay to.. to make it clearer, lets say there is a vocal sample saying "lets fly to the moon" i just want to add delay to "fly" while the rest plays clean. next loop i want to add delay to "lets" or something else,, and keep changing it each 4 bars.. any ways u can think of doing this?
i thought about bouncing the lead and make many slices and then assign these slices to different mixer tracks and automate the delay appropriately.. but this is shit loadsa work.. is there something much simpler that im not seeing?

Externally triggered gates, ext expansion/ducks are my fav at the moment , set things to trigger things, bit like dominos .. i wasnt being dynamic enough.. this certainly helps that,to achieve swings Q and Answers and synced grooves from other grooves.. ends up one big breathing wall of sounds yet spacious
you can apply this along side it to trigger what sound u want delay and no delay, reverb burst to reverse slap!...
or what colin says its simpler ,just automate it...................
sounds like u makin a grid line
using effectrix could be even simpler ......
btw jaambo? you sure u didnt kno this already lol, or u just spamming your incredible idea... begs the question... ahaha j/k
na ableton is best 4this ,why? right click midi slice... sampler now for each of them... apply your shizzle

If you set up 4 audio channels with different delays it is not so much work at all with bounced audio. Just select the parts you want delayed and put them on one of the audio channels.
