Hi friends,
I have this track going at 150bpm but it feels like it's going about 145bpm. I want to make it feel faster without changing the bpm, but I don't know how. I am using 1/32 note lenghts. I tried to use 1/16 but the bass becomes too muddy. I've also tried increasing release on the envelopes but it just ruins the clarity of the bass. Is there anything else I can try?
Thanx for help.. |

3/4 often gets boring fast.
also cool is switching from 4/4 to 3/4 and back again... but this is a old thing again^^

If you shift some of your drums back just very tiny amounts this will give the track a "rushed" feeling, which should make it sound faster

using three hits per beat = 1/12 (on 4/4 bars or whatever) is called tripplets. (same for 1/24, 1/48...)
if a bar just has 3 beats (like kick) its a 3/4.
huge difference. 3/4 is not popular at all in electronic music but tripplets you can hear often in psy.
imo it doesn't make the music sound faster. try filter env of bass and especially percussion and leads. make 1/16 rythm with some 1/32. if it's not sounding fast enough change the rythm. also modulation of leads can add some 'speed' |

tnx guys for all your suggestions
1/16 sounded way too muddy.
1/32 way too slow but very clean,
soi dont know how you call this but what i did is make the bass in 1/32 then change the grid line to 1/64 and just extend it for one more little box. i donno how you guys call this, but its great !:)
aslo i changed some percussion elements and it made it feel even faster..
