Linear phase EQ basically don't create any phase shifts around the dialed frequency. One could argue that they therefore are more concise and will allow you to make more transparent adjustments. Analogue EQ introduce phase shifts, but this is part of their sound.
Phase shifts can cause problems though and may unwanted colouration and cause other frequencies to pop out, especially when applied on individual tracks.
I would perhaps say that linear phase (phase being basically a time domain issue) are good to use on psy bass and kicks as they don't introduce any phase issues which could alter that nice tight sound you worked hard to achieve.
But let your ears be the judge and have a play with both types.

Well, EQ doesn't really work like that... there isn't really a best - different filter models do different things which may or may not be good for a specific sound - even a really 'bad' EQ can have its uses!
Having said that, the Linear EQ which to my ears sounded like it would be the most useful in the most situations is the PSP Neon. - but that is my ears - I'm sure other peoples ears will feel differently.
