Okay, so i have been working with this song, and i have got to know this program a bit longer
i have never ever tried to make a song in any other programs, so this took me two months.
I still have a hard time arranging it.

theres not a very nice flow in it
and i also need a way to make some.. calm meldoy fitting in between the end and beginning.
i also feel like i need some melody, even before where i start.

bells would suit perfect! Find some bells in Malström!
experiment with some rhytmic line in Thor...

Also try and just add bass and kick for 6-7 min and make that your blank canavas

or you see the bass and kick and a ground layer, add your colors that fits with this ground layer..

Omg freeflow <3
You helped me out once again.
So i better start with making just the whole bassline?
Allright. 'll just mute all the other instruments/synths and get going
^^

Also I'll find some bells

Hey!
Cool =)
Well the thing here is not that you make the whole baseline, you just give your self some minutes to work with, as i notice you are stuck the best thing is just to extend what you have even if its just bass and kick.. later on you can change bass notes, make fills for the kick, small breaks.. its real nice to leave two kick beats out for certain transitions ect...

I also suggest you find some nice short sound, maybe some little metalic or syntetic or raindrops of any kind and add delay(and reverb) to it, this might trigger inspiration to just get some more fillers, often there are a gang of fillers till the main body of the track starts, maybe some hypnotic line that goes on, and around that line you introduce interesting sounds, till you introduce a melody either on top or drop the rest and have that melody then start build up sounds around that...

lets say you choose to try some bells, then to those bells you can add pad.... with that pad you can then later on gate it... its nice fading in the gated part into a clean pad....

also you can for the sake of inspiration add a Dr-rex loop just to get some more groove going, if you like it you can keep it, or you can export it to track and edit it....

just make sure you add some new elements in certain section of these minutes, then you have a rough sketch to work with... Now the big problem of getting too attached to it comes and you need to struggle to find the essence and the parts that should stay and which to go... or you decide you are happy, thats also one of the hardest parts when you worked for a long time.. so maybe you let it rest for a while...

hehe =)
best of luck and have fun, and remember hard work pays off

This can be one way, then there are other ways where you choose sounds more careful and really work on evolving them, morph and use their full potential...
This takes for some more time with single sounds... you need to make presets for their expression....

Some sound desginer and music makers can spend a month tweaking sounds and saving presets and when they are ready they know exactly how these sounds behave...

Yeah, i think i'll go for both really.
i'm one of those who doesnt give up before its "Perfect" or before i'm confident with my result.
So i think i will have fun with the reverb units and scream 4 distortion to do something awesome. o_o
Also do something about the more bassy part of the sounds.
make it more intense, kind of.

Also, do u have any bells to recommend? o_0
i cant decide

hey this the ting...
you have to decide...
but as long as its a open project you have all the time to make the decision.

experiment, try some different and then make a choice, dont find what you want, look more... tweak more!

=) need any advice you can Pm me, send me a better quality mp3 and i see if i can give you some advice...
but sometimes advice is not the best... but when you want it, its good. otherwise it can make people even more insecure and halt the creation

That's basically could be a good idea, but not in this case unfortunately, because after I've listened to the track I found out here the bass and kick is the only part we already have. If Oni adds there more kick and bass, i don't think it could be helpful.
I think Oni should try to work on melodies and their sounds, because this is what music is about. Just get any synth or sampler, load any sound, and play it. Create some melodies keeping in mind you make the track about a sea cost This is what it is all about. It doesn't really matter what exact sound will play the melody you just have to feel that it fits. So play around until you do. Don't waste your time mixing the track, first you have to create something to mix.
When you have created melodies for the track arrange them, add pads which will fit the leads and sound good sound, then add effects, go find some samples, process them, cut, paste, reverse, do anything you want.
Add there what Freeflow says and here you go

makus - true i agree
Though i was just suggestion he extend the track length so he dont try and squeeze everything into what he already have.... if you understand what i mean..
More of a way so he can create new melodies and other elements...

Sure, I know what are you about. Just in this very case the short track still has empty spaces which should be filled first.

It sure does have empty spaces, i need some kind of way to make it more "calm" after the first part
not just go on to the last part
and, the beginning.

I'm thinking of using something related to what i have used when i made this short little melody, even though its mostly based on combinator patches.

I think using lots of combinator patches is a little like cheating xD

If i can't make a proper good song now, with some patience, i must really suck.

How do I sidechain in reason 4? My bass is coming in the way of my kick.           "Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth."
Neo: "What truth?"
Spoon Boy: "There is no spoon."

I believe you must go to the mixer an lower the sound of your bass or possibly make the kick a bit louder.
Try it, if not. i have no clue.

Oni Katsu, very nice startup, i guess u are close to have a complete track
listen to Freeflow's and Makus's advices

if u are using malstroms or thor or subtractors it's a nice fun to play with modulations, (MOD a/b in malstorm,mod section in Subtrctor, all around in thor) to make the sound comes "alive" altough starting from the same pattern.
then with some time wise uplifters and creating suspence moments you'll get ur track,let the sounds drive u in

@sp00k, for sidechain the bass u have 2 :
-make a copy of the kick track---->spider audio merger&splitter-----M-CLASS compressor (SIDECHAIN IN)

-orginal kick--> straight to mixer

--Bass--->M-CLASS- compressor---->mixer
