Hello audio freaks!
Please take a look at the picture:

It shows where is my working table now. But i experience great problems with monitoring on my reflex-loaded monitors there is too much hum in the bass.
Please give me an advice where it is better to place everything in such a room. I think about placing it before the window (marked blue on the picture) so that the phaseinvertor on the speakers will look towards it. But i heard its not good if monitors are placed near glass surfaces... is it true?
Thanx a lot in advice! |

I think you should put your workin desk with your monitors into the space of the room. this means that your are not looking to wall or a window, if you sit behind your system, you are looking into the room and your monitors will have no direct close contact to a reflective manipulative thing like a wall.

That depends. The manual that came with my monitors says they perform most accurately when they are close to a wall.
The most important thing is that the room is symmetrically arranged, ie. both speakers are the same distance away from the walls. Also avoid aiming the speakers down the long axis of the room if possible.
In your case I would put your desk against the long wall on the top of the diagram, half-way between the side walls, so that the window is on your left while you're working. If you can put a sofa next to the door facing into the room, it will help with the bass and also provide somewhere to sit and get a different perspective on your music.
