i have a piano (not electronic) very close to my computer
i have a very cheap soundcard(ac97 onboard)
and a regular PC microphone
when i record myself playing the quality is quite bad
what can i do to improve that
which soundcard is suitable for this need?
and which microphone?
and which good software for such kind of recordings?
thanks in advance.

to have a good quality recording you need a very good mic, a good soundcard, very good room accoustics and any software fits. having a studio suitable for recording costs big money. |

the mic quality and room quality are very very very important. If those are okay you can make reasonable recordings with a bad soundcard. Or great recordings with a good soundcard. The software hardly matters... Don't forget to strap a limiter to the signal coming from the mic... There's always the danger that big peaks pop-up while recording with mics... |
