the i7 930 with the mobo you chose is incompatible ( different sockets ) you need a mobo with x58 chipset 1366 socket.
ram you choose its to slow 1333mhz at 9-9-9-24 is slow for this setup.
1333 is ok but something with 7-7-7 or 8-8-8 timmings is better for 9-9-9 timmings get 1600mhz or faster memory.
the graphics card is low profile so it want fit in the box.
the emu 1212 is a very mediocre soundcard.
spend a little less on cpu and mobo ( go amd x6 ) and get an ssd drive.
fractal design is a good case.

Also, I'd prefer to change the CPU to an i7, would I have to change the motherboard if I do that? |

Yes. You would need a board with a socket that fits to your i7 of choice.
I hope you don't mind that I ask... Do you feel capable to build a computer on your own? Maybe it would be better if you buy a ready built computer. (Don't want to be harsh, this just came into my mind when I saw this question.)

I don't think it can be that hard, but I have been considering buying a built one.
The reason why I ask so much about the parts is because I'm afraid that I'll buy the wrong parts. But assembling it shouldn't be so hard.
edit:
I made a build with i7 cpu and motherboard, same socket so should work right?

Yes that would fit.
Does it really have to be an Intel cpu?
Performance wise there is not much difference to an AMD x6 1090t, especially when you are not using it for games. The 1090t is a lot cheaper than the i7 950 and the AM3 boards are also way cheaper than Intel sockets boards.

Intel has faster cpus, yeah, but than you should take another one, not the i7 950. Considering price and performance the x6 is better compared with that one, imo.
The parts above should all fit but before you go and buy the parts you should maybe wait for Orange or someone else who knows better than me. Maybe he would recommend you something else.

Which other CPU is better? I can't find the x6 one. Did you mean the i7-930?
Yeah, I'll wait for orange to have a look at it |

Ah okay, then the AMD build that orange made is what I need.
I plan to run Cubase like i mentioned, but it has to be able to have several vsts running that require many resources for example Omnisphere |

If it helps I built my new computer based on this setup last week:
cpu
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
mobo
GigaByte GA-880GMA-UD2H
ram
G.Skill RipJaws DIMM Kit 4GB (F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH)
psu
CoolerMaster Silent Pro M500
cpu cooler
Scythe Mugen 2 Revision B
case
Fractal Design Define R3
The rest of the parts is from my old setup. The mobo has an onboard graphic, if I had taken an extra gpu I would have bought the Gigabyte GA-870A instead of the 880GMA.

That helps, I'll keep that in mind. But I'd need more ram though.
But yeah, lets wait and see what orange says. |
