i get the feeling that psy-trance parties in the states are strictly club only. am i on target, and why do you think that is?           Work like you don't need the money.

parties here are not really 'strictly indoor', but i guess the majority probably are. the main reason for this imo is because the audiences for these kind of parties live in major cities, and there just aren't a whole lot of places to do these kind of events (it is often quite a stuggle to get a permit do things in public areas in big cities) in heavily populated urban landscapes. this is not to say that there are not parties that happen outside, but since the psy-pscene in the states is relatively new and small, outdoor events tend to be limited to places that have already have a sizeable interest in the music, such as some smaller 'college' towns. places like asheville, olympia, or austin might seem isolated and removed from the larger parties that go on in nyc/sf/la, but i think it is because these places are away from large concentrations people that the promoters have a bit more flexibility when considering and planning for outdoor events.
at the same time however, i would think that it would be a bit harder to convince someone who lives in nyc/sf/la to drive 3+ hours to some outdoor location that they have never heard of before, when they can just stay in town and hear the big-name-international-headliner of their choice on a good soundsystem on any given weekend, and be assured that weather will not be an issue inside the club...

Depends on where you go in the US. Parties in NYC in other heavily populated areas are mostly in clubs (but they still do go outdoors sometimes). There is much more room down in the south, though. I'd say that about 2/3 of the events down here in Austin are outdoors (or not in clubs). Same for a lot of other smaller scenes in the US.

There are fewer of us, so we're easier to hide from cops in the wilderness.

the reason why florida has no indoor or outdoor nature or psy parties is the law around here. its sucks man. gotta pull permits and at the end of most events the police run up in there busting people. narks working everywhere. its just not right. we could humbly start calling them parties instead of festivals and raves but then the trendies flood in like crackheads to a rock dealer.

Lets face it america is on way to many drugs and our government has punished us for it. damn ravers.
