I've been paying more attention lately to sounds in nature or that occur in your everyday lives that are psychedelic. Some examples i've noticed :
Zippers
Bubbles (Obvious)
Revving of things like cars, chainsaws, etc. (can sound like varying oscillator speed sometimes)

Specifically, there is something I do with the part near the middle of your ear that you have to brush across if you wanted to stick your finger in your ear. Usually when i push this in and let it go so it flicks back, it sounds EXACTLY like a reverse kick drum.

Anyway, let me know if any observant minds out there noticed some of these little peices of everyday psychedelia..

thanks

Don't stick fingers in your ears man... thats not good for anything...

anyway... yeah there is alot of cool sounds in the real world. I wonder how many synth builders who was/are inspired by real sounds when they made/make hardware synths.

actually I have this Idea that they were just playing around and found some cool sounds along the way...

sry a bit

I am of the opinion that although there are a zillion new amazing sounds we could hear that would be psychedelic, on the other hand most of the sounds we have already heard and hear everyday, though we hear them we don't really listen to them.

For example try listening to any sound that you think you have heard before many times, like drop a pin or a marble or hear a bird, a motor, whatever. But this time listen very closely, in deep concentration and great attentiveness:

>>>LISTEN<<<

You will most likely find that the sound you thought you knew actually has many more qualities and depth that you had thought before. Yeah you will discover maybe new freckels, bumps, auras, hues, sparkels, textures, character, etc in that sound just by listening like as if you were in a meditation. You will be able to write a whole book about that insignificant sound just by listening closely to it.

I think life is deeply rich, intricate, and amazing everywhere, however much of the beauty is lost in the eye of the beholder.

you don't have to stick anything in your ear, and where would it be in topic?

One of my favorites is a sound that is heard in the NYC subway very late at night, when it is still and quiet.
Before a train comes, before you can hear the rumble, the tracks rattle and make this really really trippy cha-clunk cha-clunk cha-clunk type of sound. I love this sound because it sounds cool, not just that it means the train is coming.

And you're right, plucking my concha (that's what that part of the ear is called) sure does sound like a kick drum. Whaddayaknow..

I heard if you stick a pencil really deep into your ear, you will hear a loud painful scream with the other! Good for darkpsy sampling

Try it

My back can make some funky noises, when I stretch... not the usual low pitched crunchy noise, but something more in the high frequency, and I feel it all the way up my spine.. like small marbles bouncing around in my empty bones...

Hard to describe, but weird

The sound of waves, not the water, but the sand moved by the water and the small stones, also psychedelic, and sounds a bit like the other sensation.
