Speaking as someone who can sometimes fall into this category himself, you both have Isratrance personas that can be argumentative, bullish, pigheaded and more than a little too convinced of your own opinions. Why don't you stay out of each others way?           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

while I think massive sounds really nice I really don't like the direction NI has gone with the new user interface. I don't really like FM8, massive or absynth 4 for this reason. The whole kore preset thing to me is just clunky, i'm sure its great if you have massive amounts of presets for the synths but its just a pain in the ass if your making your own patches.

sorry... I did not recognize ^_^ to be a smiley face. In that case pls. accept my apology.           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"

Hmm, just checked this synth on internet.
It looks like you have a 'massive' envelope generator.
Can you modulate the pitch with that env?
If so, I bet you can get some wicked crazy psychedelic rubber saw pitching up and down!?

Yup - it'll do that no problem at all. Or you could attach it to a wave position pot for slidy fun. Or many other potential uses!

Well, would someone please explain me in simple words how to get this modulation thing started!?
I'm not understanding anything of it.

its simple once you've got the hang of it, honestly

in the bottom right hand corner you have your modulators.

above each modulator is its name, and next too it is a funny little four way pointy arrow. You need to drag that to one of the boxes underneath the knob you wish to modulate and drop it there. When you've done that, you should see that the box is now linked to the modulation source.

to adjust how much it modulates by, click on the box, and move it up for positive modulation, and dwn for negative modulation.

picutre show the arrow thingies

picture showing where I've dragged the arrow to, so as to modulate pitch.

all I need to do now is move the click on the box, and move the arrow up or down to control amount.

Im moving more away from the albino and more towards massive, as I love the sound of the filters...

HOWEVER!

Why is it when I make a bassline there some outrageous deviations in the sound that's coming out? Same note, same length, same velocity... different sound? That doesnt add up at all. I figure maybe they're trying to get the anologue thing going on, but is there anyway to do away with this feature? Or at least tone it down?

Check that there are no LFOs modulating oscillator pitch, filter cut-off, amp or any effects parameters (disable phasers, flangers in the signal path...etc) in general. After you do that you are probably getting the "free running" oscillator sound, where the oscillators don't start from the same phase of the cycle (common in analog synths were the VCOs are running and a gate signal triggers the ADSR that controls the VCA). If you don't like that motion of the patch either, sync the oscillators together so the slave oscillator is forced into the same phase of the cycle, as the master oscillator, or make sure to disable any free running oscillator parameters.
It should sound like you are triggering a sample by now (which I find kinda boring, but whatever floats yer boat innit).

on the global settings page, the one that allows you to change the phase of the note, there is a setting that lets you retrigger the note on midi gate/sync.

Can't remember exactly what its called and I'm away from the studio, but this is what you need.           .

Hello,

I've been using Massive only for a short period of time, but I'm really loving it.
What I find best is the innovative interface which provides endless routing possibilities. That's really great for making all kinds of sound experiments and "bizzaro" sounds.

Anyway, anybody who just starting to use it and has problems with routing, maybe can check out this tutorial on NI's website:

http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=massive&ftu=b30270476326a11&flash=9

It's only basic stuff, but as I said, if you're just starting out with Massive, you'll probably find a good tip or two.

Cheers
