i sometime use it for intros and atmospheric sounds (never used for leads).
but i have to say that its not my favorite one.
cause i mostly use just presets, the GUI is IMHO not good.
for example albino i understood very fast, but massive i try to read the usermanual but for me it was too complicated.
i like more simple synths cause i wanna tweak them, but massive is a little bit too much for me, at the moment.

but anyway it has defenetly great sounds, especially for atmos, i think.

Yes, for atmos and Walking Pads and Sequences is it the Killa.
I made some commercial presets for this Ship.
Take a look on the Audiosamples...

i don't like it. it has a few good sounds in countless variations that sound pretty much the same. Beside that, when I get rid of EQ boosts and included FX modules sound tends to disapear. Complexity of programing is impressive and could be used very well if only Massive could give some solid sounds.

It's possible that I have missed something or just didn't invest enough time on tweaking oscillators, but for now my "massive" time has been a waste of time.           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My god how can you not like this synth!! For shame! The possibilities are SO diverse and endless! Routing kicks ass on this one! Step/performer with up to 10 different types of envelope per step, etc... I use it for basslines (don't make goa though), subleads, atmo's, percussion-ish kind of sounds. Anything that needs dynamic!!

The force is strong within this one...

IMHO it leaves many many other vsti's far behind. They seem so kiddy now           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

I guess that it depends on what kind of sound do you like and how do you process your sounds. Routing in Karma synth kicks ass even more and the sound I get is better while it takes me less time. But this isn't a Karma topic... just wanted to explain why I don't like Massive.           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. I love Massive for it's ability to make great sounds. It is very versatile and you can really go deep. So far I have mostly used it for weird drones and fx. As far as it being a waste of time is concerned. To really tweak with it I would say any time spent on it is truly NOT wated. A lot of fun, great versatility and amazing sounds are what I am getting out of it. And the sky seems to be the limit...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

I got some cool glitchy effects out of it. found the oscillators to be very clean

but for sound design I still prefer the Virus or Albino 3. still might be worth checking out some more under the hood though though..

I think its a great sounding synth, I have used it in three tracks in the song mentioned in my signature, but I personally don't find it very handy and wont use it again... at least not too soon... the controlsurface is a bit too "untransparent" for my personal taste... its very hard for me to create own sounds, since I get lost in the way the params are arranged... maybe I'm just too stupid though
I believe if you really dig into it, its a great machine.

I personally like predator for its sound and easyness to create sounds.. even though its much more limited.

yes great synth, just something i don t like about some filters, sound like there is a limiter just behind them in the chain , when you turn up the resonance ,there is no volume boost and the sound loose all the body, strange ...they lack punch a bit.

In a way it is, but on the other hand it isn't. Like I've said it depends on how you like to process your sounds. I tend to apply reverb on the end of a chain unless I use a delay... than delay comes last. I often use EQ on synths to high shelf and low cut the sounds and more often than not i use some transient designer with a mild saturation. Now as you can imagine using tranzient designer and EQ after delay, reverb, chorus/flanger or phaser is complete nonsense. So most of the time I choose not to use included FX. Most of synth FX are quite simple anyway so it's easy to replicate them with other VST FX.

There are synths like impscar, oddity, surge, etc that even after turning off all internal FX still make powerful and solid sounds. So I prefer to use that kind of synths. In the end that forces me to practice tracking of sounds and I avoid using presets. Even when I copy the original FX from patch it never comes out the same. It has a same effect but sounds quite differently.           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. No, I can't imagine that. Some of the best sounds I have ever come up with have been the result of adding FX in an order that I would normally have thought of as insane. Having high-quality FX integrated into the signal path of a synthesiser is a sound-designer's wet dream.
