KORE combines all your VST and Audio Unit plug-ins into one interface. You can find every sound or preset on your hard drive with either a google-like search or an i-tunes type search. The KORE controller has 8 touch-sensitive knobs which you can set to different parameters on your software. Plus, the most useful parameters are already pre-assigned if you own Native Instruments software or other plug-ins from Arturia, Korg, Spectrasonics, GMedia, Rob Papen, etc.
I think KORE will be liked for different reasons:
1) VST & AU host, plug-in, and wrapper.
2) Find sounds by typing what you want into the “google” search field.
3) Find sounds by specifying musical attributes (bass, analog, warm, stab, hip hop).
4) Instant control of plug-in parameters via easy access pages. It’s not necessary to dive into some of the more complex GUIs of each plug-in. Also, from the hardware, you can see which parameters are assigned to each knob. You can view all 8 assignments at once, or one at a time. You can scroll through easy access pages for every instrument from the hardware controller, and there’s no limit to the number of easy access pages you can create.
5) Create complex sounds by layering instruments and effects and saving the whole setup as a single KORESound.
6) KORESounds also allow you to transfer instrument and effect setups between ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Live, etc.
7) USB 2.0 24-bit audio/midi interface provides access to all software functions from the KORE controller.

Wow. In that case Simon, from what you sa on this thread, the days of programming your own patches are over. Just tell the Kore to make you a "squidgy lead" or "lush smooth vocal pad with sparkly bits". I want to hear what it would come up with when you ask it for "a sound I've never heard before"... would it come up with the same sound if you asked it that twice?

point 3 is not interesting anyway... If u only use yer own sounds... And u give them clear names and u know how they sound, u won't need a search engine that tries to find it for u... u will always do it better... and anyway, what u want when u think about a "lush smooth vocal pad with sparkly bits" is probably not what the search engine is gonna give you.. even if he does find a "lush smooth vocal pad with sparkly bits" it will be different from what u had in mind. |

These things never really work. You have to listen to the sounds anyway. Useless feature.

What a load of rubbish. What is the point in having different synths if you are not going to "dive into the complex GUI of each plugin"? You might as well just get AKAI Synth leadz vol1 - vol399 sample CDs if you don't like synthesis.
Also, having to access parameters of various plugins through one limited controler with a limited GUI and limited controls is much harder than using the dedicated GUI of a plugin that is designed arround the functions of that plugin.

Any VST/AU host can layer instruments with much more flexibility and control than KORE can possibly provide.

What is wrong with saving presets the regular way? And how often do you need your presets somewhere else? This might have a limited market appeal.... maybe ...

If you don't have a soundcard and MIDI interface, this might be interesting. Otherwise it is redundant and you pay for this redundancy.
This product is just completely overhyped and sounds like a total waste of money IMNSHO.
