First I have to say, that its difficult to talk from "high range" audio interfaces, since "high quality" of an interface will be given mostly by its converters. Except to the apogee stuff there are actualy no audio interfaces which could really be considered having hi end converters.
If you want to go really Hi End you would need to buy a Hi End converter and a audio interface with digital input..
But as for me.. thats not necessary..
Lets talk about the RME Interfaces as "high range" in the audio interface market, keeping in mind, that when it comes to converters this is not true.
You could have a look at the Fireface 400
I can't speak from personal experience, but possibly the new audio interface series from TC electronic are probably above average too. For example:
TC ELECTRONIC KONNEKT LIVE
Motu is also considered rather good, but I didn't hear a lot of good things about their converters.. most people consider RME converters much better than Motu.
I think the Kontrol 1 is a really good deal. I especially like that it is really solid built, which is good for live acts. But I don't like, that it has only 2 ins, not 4.
The better audio interfaces usually have more in/outs.

now this TC Konnekt Live i have to say looks real nice man with all the effects and all built inside is just perfect  more thinking now |

ok ,sorry, i guess i was wrong comparing it with Maudio ,sold mine too for a fireface ,, i could not guess that NI really build good interfaces ,, i mean wtf , they have made one and only audio interface product and its good??my congrats to NI then..
as for the TC Konnekt i suggest u look first at TC electronic forum , cause a lot of people swearing TC due to their drivers, which sucks & have a lot of problems..
and if u are going to give that money to buy a TC, which will probably be unstable , save some more and buy an RME ,, anyway its your pocket

WOW, that a great tip!
I just had a look at the TC forum... thats even worse than in the cubase forum after the first release of cubase 4!
Reading through the posts there you get the impressions that those TC units die for fun!
Faulty pots, died after one day, fried Firewire interface of computer and after all malfunctioning the drivers and firmware, firmware updates which kill the interface and and and...
Thanks for that gutter.. I wont recommend it again!
