After the shooting in Norway it is clear that that the forces that are destroying our universe here on earth have become stronger then the forces that maintain the proper balance. One does not need to be a nuclear scientist to see that humanity is teetering on the verge of insanity.

I am interested in books that talk about processes that are shaping the world today, how they interact with each other and how they influence people's relations. Like what causes humans to act the way we do.

I know there can't be too many books that take all issues into account but I am sure there are books that deal with individual aspects of this.

For example, one book similar to what I am searching for is Ishmael by Daniel Queen.

Please share your books or essays about this.

Samuel Huntington - The Clash of Civilizations is a good book to understand the radical minds of our era, and why some in the west feels this "clashes" are natural and unadvoidable.

Manuel Castells is other author that is highly regarded on his views on how society has developed in the las 20 years and how the information society has arised and all the problems it brings. His classic Book (which I read a while back) The information age is quite a milestone in socilogy, but he has recent books which seem interesting.

But for more current events I will pick up a bucn of Opinion columns in different papers from authors of different background and ideologies so you can have broad perspective in what is happening.

Thanks, Login.

At my past job in some restaurant i found a book on back stairs with a dollar bill for a bookmark. I read few pages. The book was "Consider the Lobster" and it talks about contemporary society its issues and tidbits. It's next on my list.           the sky was pink
