NAMM is always overwhelming in the sheer number of gizmos released, so only picking a few favourites...

Mindblowing retro poly-synth! Boring demo.

THE Sequencer that has only been fantasised about till now. As a Beatstep owner feel cheated but given the price can't complain.

The MS-20 tabletop would be pretty cool to those looking at taking the analog plunge too.

Arturia's new soundcard looks pretty slick, good signal to noise ratio from the stats.

Korg's got the Jdxi 4 voice poly too, but no demos yet. Jdxa mono-analog/poly digital/drum hybrid looks pretty neat as an all in one solution.

and of course the most hyped of them all ...

My mate at NAMM said he was sad to report the Arp does not sound as much like his original as he'd hoped. Also it's a mini version similar to the MS-20 & he said the smaller keys are quite lame.

The Sputnik modules look good but seeing as the replicate Buchla I'm considering dropping Sputnik from my system plans & getting the new small system Buchla instead. Why settle for. Replica when I can now potentially have the real thing?

Prophet 6 knock poly out of the park. Never wanted a keyboard synth after I found the Sub Phatty to be lame but this looks like it could be the one and only that I own.

Also euro wise not at NAMM the Drumdokta 2 from Dynsinc.info is already preoordered for me. It looks amazing!! https://www.modulargrid.net/e/dinsync-drum-dokta-2-prelim

Beatstep Pro is a must have! I hope I still get a good price for the old Beatstep though...           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

beatstep is fun but it's not very functional for pro use.

some problems...

- you cannot see the notes you play or transpose
- no internal midi clock... so it's useless as the master control if you have drum machine or anything using clock. it's also useless to put it in the middle of the chain since there is no midi in.
- swing function is not smooth
- only 16 steps

but for something that costs so little it does a decent amount. good for use if you want to use with a computer.

it is also amazing if you use your phone or tablet as master clock! <- this is the secret of original beatstep

this year however the sequencer game has gone up many levels from all companies.

beatstep pro is completely different beast. it's like 3 beatsteps in 1, with display and everything. 64 steps. it's a proper master sequencer that makes original beatstep look like a toy.

oops like like beatstep pro does not have note display. pretty weird for them to do do that.

anyway, this was also one of the wonderers of NAMM from Teenage Engineering. What sound, whooof!

Thank you Yidam, always good to hear from unbiased user experiences, no midi in means its more like a toy indeed, not what i want.           http://soundcloud.com/vipal

Yes, seems like most reviews now only look at the selling points, forums are the only place where the proper unbiased discussions are happening.

Just fyi, it is possible to have MIDI in but you need to buy this 3rd party box...

Korg also has a new step sequencer that was launched at NAMM. Same price as Beatstep, however it looks like this too has no MIDI In
