Hello all,
I have used the dj name KIVA since 99 in LA and I plan to release music in the near future but I don’t want to be confused with KIWA. Do you think that going with my name that I've been using for years would confuse people outside the US who may not know who I am, but who are familiar with KIWA? I have spent years building the rep of said name and would hate to have to change it and start a new because of a single letter that the world might confuse.
With all the typos that run rampant on the final print of cd covers I thought I might ask the community what you all think.
FYI
KIVA – Is the womb of the earth in Hopi meaning. It is also a place where the mouth to ear translation of Hopi culture was given to each child (boy). When the tribe was rich in culture, the kiva was a place where all of the ceremonies would begin. A single kachina dancer (playing the role of a spitrit) would emerge from the kiva to inform the village that a ceremony was starting. It was also the place where the ceremony would end by that same dancer leaving our world to return to the spirit world. The Kiva has many uses and the above mentioned are just a few. My Great Grandfather was Hopi, so you can see how the name is important to me. Your thoughts.

Hi there David!
For us it wouldn't make a difference even if you called yourself by that name... even if it doesn't make much difference, but maybe good for you to know that before 2000 we called ourselves Kiva-project. This however isn't such a big deal, cos at the time we were only performing in Finland and didn't make any official releases. We changed the name after I found out there was an etno project with the name Kiva... anyway, it's a very different scene that artist is in so I wouldn't stress about it. Just to let you know... I think Kiva is a cool name www.kiwa.fi |

another factor- availability of the internet domain name.
kiva project, not to be confused with kaya project.
not only is kiwi a fruit, but it is a sub-species of elven creatures residing in mystical faraway lands.
