They have an f3 at 46hz..it doesn't get much better without using 8" drivers, which are usually pretty muddy, or a sub (usually equally muddy but without the weird resonance from having 8" drivers in a cabinet too small). A sub will give you that bass extension if you really feel that you need it, just don't do something stupid like getting a sub with a cutoff at 30hz..make sure it's full range if you're going to put a lot of money into it. I would personally also get some kind of monitor routing to be able to check mixes without the sub, since the majority of systems people will be listening to your work on isn't anywhere near full range.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

^ so. good.

I can't even express in words how I feel about the MicroMains. I'm in love.

Unfortunately love costs around $7000, so I can only dream.

Congrats!           You believe in the users?

Add another $850 for shipping & i'm looking at $7'850. I've never paid that much for anything not even my first car but i keep telling myself i'll take these with me to the grave!

Unless they come out with a better version somewhere down the line

Man, they're twice as expensive, I know it's Christmas, but I'd like to eat something else than buttered pastas for the next 6 months you know

I was thinking of adding an Adam Sub8 later to add those nice bass.

Psytiax you dont need a sub, unless you got "the place" to put that thing, and i mean a good acoustic treated studio, else its gonna make things too boomy and more difficult to mix , youll probably end up listening way too much bass/sub frequencies and mix them softer when at the same time in other systems the same mix would lack in the sub region.stick with a pair of good monitors

Maybe go for the Firestudio Tube, the new version?

And i wouldnt bother using money on changing to remote SL. What program are you using? If Cubase, go for the new CC121 system

And I didnt think the monitor upgrade was much of an upgrade either...           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

You're talking about the HS80 ? Coz' if not and you're actually refering to the Adam A7, I'm gonna curl up in a ball and cry.

Btw, regarding acoustic treatment, do you guys knows a good kit between 500-1000 bucks ?

And the most important thing, is it possible to live an acoustically treated room ? Or is it unbearable ?

with 500-1000$ u can build awesome and effective absorption panels , dont buy Auralex its crap and overpriced and even if you treat the room or at least the hole front side and corners and first reflections , again you dont need sub, do not expect anything to help you in that region as long as you are in a plain room , 40-50 or 60 HZ (wont say below) is almost impossible to be absorbed in a room unless you build helmholtz resonators gypsum ceilings , huge corner traps etc , or if you have any spare room to design it for studio use and make the above and more
and all that so that you can be able to trace somehow these frequencies, again save the money for smthng else not a sub, making acoustic treatment to be able to monitor better with the Adams
ive found one of the best corner traps on the market which absorbs effectively till 60HZ is this primacoustics, its sick, with diaphragmatic membrane, empty space , absorption materials ..
http://www.primacoustic.com/maxtrap.htm check the absorption curve its unbelievable http://www.primacoustic.com/maxtrap-specs.htm
but its 1.2X0.6m per trap, mean you need at least one centered , or two to fill a hole corner , and each costs 400euro (ouch-shit-ouch). but still a great solution, wish i has money to buy these beauties

i personally have treated my room the hole front side of mixing desk is made with panels and poor corner traps and back/around Auralex, which is shit as i told, at least to buy their corner traps, they are useless and dont worth the money

Thanks for the good info

I'm thinking about getting this kind of isolation, is it usually good ?

(french website, to see what I'm talking about, click "magasin", then "Traitement acoustique" and finally "Gamme standard")

the panels are absorbers/diffusers at the same time , will be good for first reflection sides and ceiling or the front side of mixing
but the corner traps are the same as other cheap brands, useless, you can build better & effective corner bass traps with the same amount of money imho

You're welcome anytime! In fact part of the reason for buying these is because i'm doing a lot of mixing work nowadays (pop/rock) & needed the most critical monitors i could afford.
