you mean masks in photoshop? i cant do that since they are made with paper! cutting out of magazines and layering... it makes it harder since i am limited to what i can find in magazines... i cant twist or manipulate the images except with scissors and the layering order.

im very proud to announce
my very first art show
is now on display at
Gold Hill Espresso
on Haywood St. Downtown, Asheville,NC, USA
(across from the library)
the show runs to the end of November.
ill be scheduling a reception and announcing the date soon.

artist statement:
In little over a year, since I designed "Crab Arrangement", I have filled my head and countless envelopes with tiny pictures. By combining and recontextualizing a myriad of image fragments, ever complexifying organizational themes emerge. While harvesting source material from hundreds of magazines, I create and destroy countless ideas, my brain runs on autopilot. With every new idea, this mission to generate conceptual design intensifies, rapidly permeating through new and found circuitry, all the while frantically searching for a higher knowledge.
Similar to the concept of a DJ mix (of which I am quite familiar), this art form takes images and fractions thereof to create an entirely new vision. In this age of free information, art that is printed in magazines becomes fair game. By combining the art of countless others to make my pieces, I secretly facilitate the collaboration of these artists, infusing their work with new potential. In summary, i feel strongly that the medium of collage can effectively be used to transmit life experience and conceptual themes through the amalgamation of representative imagery.
