sucks at the moment! I WANT to make a song but I just can't, I make a beat, and when it comes to the melodic stuff and FX, I'm just stunned... I quit FL start playing a game insteed and next time I open FL I create a new song, making the beat, maybe doing 1 melody, but then again, I'm closing FL for playing a game or something else.
I'm making psytrance / Goa, and it feels that I'm going backwards in my music career. I'm getting bored of the sounds, and I'm not good in changing and doing my own sounds. I'm not good at mastering, and it's many things I don't know how they work etc, and when I try to do something with it, it simply sounds shit.
can u advice me with something? I WANT TO MAKE MUSIC! :<
If u wanna listen to something I've made you can check it out here: http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=305890&T=315

focus your target constantly and everything else will come automaticly. never give up and give it a consequent error and try, error and try.
keep a watch about your technical skills. inform yourself about mixing and studio-engineering permanently.
jump through the shadows and dont walk away from them.

When I get stuck for ideas to put over a drum pattern, I make a pretty generic non offensive lead sound on a synth and just the the beat on a loop and jam over it on the midi keyboard. Works a treat. |

Sometimes, nothing works and you have to give it a break untill your inspiration starts beating down your door...
I've encountered many occasions where I'll start a song and end up not touching it for weeks untill something comes to me. Patience is indeed a virtue as well as hard work. You can't expect to write a full tune every single time you open your sequencer. I would definitely find a way to help boost your creativity though, watch a movie, play some video games, blaze one, go for a walk, listen to some music either in or outside the genre that you are trying to make... If you force it, then it won't be as good as it would be if you waited for it to come to you.

i think soulfood has a good point... as everybody else,
Psyrius i think you should jam more... it sounds like you do alot of programming... do you have a midi-keyboard? or any other real instrument?
instead make a drum pattern... and jam with that,
load some synths, and just find the groove..
have in mind that you just should have fun, and dont pressure your self to make something serious.. play around!!
just jam along and have fun!
and do like mubali said... stay away from music making and let your soul fill it self with creativity!
i like to practise playing Darabuka, Djembe, Bongos, guitar, keyboard or some percussion instrument as much as possible... and sometimes i start my Boss Db90 and practise keeping the rhythm....
this is can be more fun then staring at cubase not knowing what to do...
have some fun and play some instruments and practise...

i think you should get new impressions. i think any musician sometimes feels lack of creativity and its obvious 'coz making music isn't an automated process. its up to soul and mind, not hands and soft only=)
when i feel something like you are feeling now i'm collecting ideas and matereal, surfing to find something new - samples, synths, information. and when MUSE is coming back - u can meet her (him?) armored - with some new material and ideas.
useally helps.

A good thing to do is to have an idea of what you want to write before you even touch the sequencer. If you have nothing in your head, you wont ever come up with something worthwhile composition-wise even if you spend a day in FL (I learned that the hard way...). Imagine or hum a tune, or a wicked beat or bass and then while it's fresh put it down in the sequencer (finding the right notes and time sigs can be at first pain if you're not experienced at composition, you might forget your original idea, but don't give up). Jamming works as well
