Dear friends,

we are gathered here to comemerate our fallen friend, my music laptop. He suffered the BSOD and passed away on Thursday, June 2nd and could not be resurrected. He will have to be formatted and re-installed with everything and all project files will most likely be lost forever, because some dumb-asses do not think its necessary to back everything up.

In his memory I would like to share with you the last piece of music created with him, which is still incomplete but was luckily bounced and loaded onto an mp3 player 20 minutes before the crash.

R.I.P., my dear friend, you will be sorely missed

I feel your pain
I had a similar experience with my laptop in 2008.
Lost everything because of a chai accident .. splash!

Nice track

Hardware-problems is the worst things. I always get really stressed out and feel like punching something. Guess I'm quite material

Really loved the deep, hypnotic atmosphere here. Quite oldschool and floaty. I especially like the last part of the track.

I'm not too fond with the kick though. Don't know if it's the click that sounds a bit off.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

First of all, I have great news: Everything is fixed! I took my laptop to professional computer nerds, and they were able to save all my project files and sample libraries and such, and then they re-formatted the harddrive and I reinstalled all my programs and everything is up and running again and nothing is lost

Other than that, thanks for all the compassion you all showed towards my plight and also thanks for the positive feedback.

@ Protodrive: I`m happy that the track inspired you a bit And it is not lost now!

@Vermee: Done!

@KetSci: Thanks, and fortunately I`ll have the opportunity to develop it a little more now. And I haven`t released anything yet, I`m still really new to this music production thing.

@PermaFry: Chai Accident is perfect track name. "PermaFry - The Chai Accident", that sounds kinda cool

@Profane: Thanks! Old school and floaty is exactly what I had in mind. About the Kick, Soundclouds encoding plays a huge role in the clickyness, the original kick does have a lot of high frequencies and a certain hiss, but soundcloud really butchered this one.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

Sorry for your loss.................Yep been there got the T shirt. Lost about 4 years worth of works in progress when an external hard drive died. I'd recommend backing up your data twice.

ps- I lost some good house session folders, and i can't recreate them as much as i try, and now I have some influential contacts in the house scene.with nothing to show them.........."had some belting house tunes...honest!!":D

@kick muck: Wow, that sucks, four years worth of tunes...I guess I got out of this mess very lucky

Anyways, now that I got everything fixed I completed the track, I added a few elements and layers to make it more complete and add more variation, eq`ed the click somewhat out of the kick and changed the bassline a bit: Here`s the link (same one as in the original post above, I just replaced the file in Soundcloud))
