i have a evolution mk429c and i programed the
knobs on it to control what the writing
beneath them say, as to the midi number parameters...but...the keyboard dosnt respond! why? i work with nuendo and cubase,
the vsts im trying to control show thers midi
message comming in by the blinking light...
but they dont respond to any of the tweaking
i do! the keypads work but the knobs dont why
is that is there something i have to do within nuendo? |

don't know if nuendo supports the evolution directly - but if not, check under Generic Remote devices. You definately have to configure your controller under cubase/nuendo.

I have the evolution uc-16. At first i had exactly the same problem. This is happening coz the vsti's don't use the same controller numbers for resonance, cutoff, volume etc.
So what i did is this.
For example in Nova the resonance, cutoff are transimitted in the controllers 105 & 106(if i remember right). For albino every function that's midi controllable reffers to CC number that contols it. So finally what i did was while recording(in a new midi track connected to the same vsti i wanted to tweak) i was tweaking the resonance, cutoff and other parameters i wanted manualy using the mouse. After that in the key editor all the recorded midi data was shown but most importantly it was shown which controller was matched to this parameter from cubase.
After this and knowing exactly which controller number controls what, i assigned the knob number 3(for example) in the uc-16 to the controller number i saw before in cubase's key editor. Then i was tweaking the vsti's parameters in real time using that knob and recording it. |

Try a VST that has the midi learn fuction, just right click on the VST knob of choice and choose the midi learn fuction then twist the knob on your controller! I wish all VST had the option it is the the most painless way with out having to program the CC numbers and all that headache. Good luck and happy tweaking.

cheers people!
i both the ways work!
i completely agree about the midi learn function, its so much less headake,
i even sometimes prefer to use only the mouse then programing each time the parameter number... |

I agree about midi learn... all synths should have it
anyway i think
its much more feeling in recording "hands on" tweaks instead of programing them...
its pretty painless in FL Studio(you can basicly control anything) but who wants to go there just to record an autenthic tweak...
cubase should work on a better solution for midi cc assignments, a quicker solution.... |
