I love to be the bad guy , but you asked for it.
this track has very little to do with psy trance and trance in general. the production falls way far beyond what's is expected today, meaning that it sounds really old. you keep the same loop all over the track...
I wouldn't tell you stop making music, cause I think you can grow. keep working.           "a new art came into my mind which only you can create, the Art of Noises, the logical consequence of your marvelous innovations." Russolo, 1913

Heh.. it's a tough crowd here, especially if you're not making typical over-compressed Israeli psy trance.

I like the tune overall, interesting new sound, but I have to agree with Hayez in that the track is a bit monotonous. I think you need more layers, or more evolution of the sound as the track progresses. Maybe some interesting percussion over it or some kind of pad?

The production sounds "old" just because you didn't compress the crap out of everything. Try compressing each instrument channel individually, especially the kick and bass, then compress the overall mix to get it sounding louder.

hav'nt had the chance to listen to your track - but will do that this afternoon.

linseyp - it sounds old because its not compressed ? i'd strongly disagree with that. i don't compress my bass/kick at all, and theres plenty of "new" artists that don't compress them either. old ? hmphf

Illusions: I meant to qualify Hayez's comment. I got the impression he said it sounded old because the production was not up to today's standard.

I may have misinterpreted, but I hear a lot of people say that sort of thing.

I don't necessarily agree, btw.

sounds nice and i like the construction of the track, but i agree with Hayez, this has nothing to do with psytrance that we are used to listen nowadays... This sounds very old school, with this synths and this pianos! my adice, if you want to produce psytrance, is listen to the trance that is being made in this days... You will understand the patterns Hayzes talked about!

Have a good time all the time!

hey talolard, I listened to your track a few more times. there is a lot of things to improve and I can't count all of them.
first and most important, like redlink said, listen to the music you like and try to understand how it was written and produced (maybe underworld would be a good start in your case). don't be afraid to ask questions.
second, don't compromise, if it's either the tools you have or the sequences you write. go all the way, even it takes weeks or months.
third, change is the key to a good electronic (and other) music. don't use the same sequences all over again. change somthing each time. adding and subtracting both creates change. sounds are more intresting if they change over time, that's what modulation is for. your track doesn't sound old because of comression. it sounds old becuase you're using old sounds, and they are not the good old classic sounds.
