My first hardware synth?

Hello

I've been working in cubase for about 2 years, and I've only been working with samples and a lot of VST synths..
I still think that something is missing.. I need a hardware synth, I'm tired of controlling software.. but I'm confused about what to buy..

I love all kind of psytrance. I'm very inspired af Yahel Sherman's music... I love his clean and beauty trance sounds..

What hardware synth would be perfect for me? I god offered an Access Virus B for some days ago, but I think that's better for twisted psytrance sounds? Am I right? Maybe a Nord Lead would be better for these yahel trance-sound?

And one more question? How is a hardware synth controlled compared to a software vst?
In cubase I can open a lot of the same vst synth, and attach them to each miditrack, is that possible with a hardware synth like virus or nord lead? Or how does it work?

Thanks a lot

buy both
joke
man, i don't have a hardware synth thats why i won't advise you, lets wait for a pro here.
i just want to say that it seems 90% of trance is made on nordleads and viruses. maybe people fo not have alternatives? i doubt.

any waldorf is good for trance.. Crystal clear sound. The nord lead and modular are great too... Any virus is good too... Analog synths aren't really good for psytrance imho, i tried a few, but they don't do it for me (as psytrance synths, to make DnB for example analog synths are the greatest). wavetable synths like the korg wavestation are great for trance too. The elektron monomachine is great. The sidstation is great for trance too.... As you can see, there is more then enough choice

I have a viruc its a bit more plastic sounding than a nord and even more than waldorf.
To get a clue about the sound,
As far as i know
Parasence (r.i.p) used to work with waldorf,
wizzy noise and infected mushroom's best loved synth is nord lead (2x?) and
sentient and freq has a virus.           HTTP://www.decadancerecords.it/audioplug

Virus C is a good choise but nord lead is better and it has more improved sound. However I have novation-ks4 that produces incredible basslines.

You can make trance tracks using any synth, of course, some synths are more appropriated than others. You can even use some ROMpler if you want (and if you are creative). It's funny to see some guys talking a lot of good comments about the Korg M1 VST (ROMpler) in another trance forum now, when these same guys was saying bad things about hardware ROMPlers some months ago. Some months/years ago, talking about ROMplers for trance producing was a sacrilege. Anyway, it's very interesting to layer pads/strings from ROMplers with analog/virtual analog ones. My first synth (2002) was a Yamaha CS6x using 2 PLG150-AN plug-in boards (it's a AN1x virtual analog card). I loved it!

If you want psy tracks, you need FM synthesis, BPF/HPF filters (if two multimode filters are available, excellent for talking synth sounds), ring mod and of course, Osc sync. Any modern virtual anlog synth will give these features. Got some Virus B, it's an amazing synth with a lot of modulation possibilities and powerful sounds.
Even using Nord Lead 2 or Virus B/C, very abused on trance nowadays, you can always come up with new sounds... It's up to you. Nobody is upset with a lot of Jupiter/Oberheim sounds used again and again...
Waldorf has amazing synths, Micro-Q (another virtual analog) and the amazing Microwave II/XT (wavetable synthesis).
If you want to make some sound design and even trance tunes, Virus B and Microwave XT are the best trade-off you can found around. Microwave XT has a stereo input (Virus too, plus vocoder...) and it's able to process the sounds through its weird/amazing/powerful (self-oscilating)filters. Its filters are very very weird for psy... hehehehehehe

Peace.

exactly the same, but you can't use midi-learn on them, you'll have to use the classic CC-way of doing it.

Most of the time hardware sounds a little better compared to software. That's mainly because they have better circuits... They sound louder, have a wider stereo-field and contain more frequencies (software sounds a little thinner then hardware if you listen to it dry). Since almost all synths are digital, and a pc is too, there shouldn't be any other differences (algorithms can be ported to pc).

A hardware synth a nice way to learn synthesis, cause it's more comfortable to tweak, but when you come to the point when you know exactly what your doing, the physical knobs aren't that cool. I sold my virus, i prefer VST's and beer with the 1000$

Just take a listen to the latest tunes by Noisia or Pendulum, it's all software innit.
