Hi all,
so I started producing around Christmas time and after some messing around and learning I have now finished my first track, stylewise its something between Atmos, Goa and old Frankfurt Trance featuring the late great Bob Ross, I like to call it "Progressive Goa".
From a composition point of view I am very happy with it and won`t change much, however I would love some advice on the "technicalities", like mixing, EQìng etc, particularly if the K/B combo is too loud, because my room is not treated and it tends overemphasize the mids/highs, and too compensate I turn the bass up to high.
Anyways, here it is "Bob is Back", obviouly not mastered, I just put a limiter on the master channel to make it louder. Thanks in Advance!

Cool stuff actually - I can certainly hear the Atmos-influences in there, and if you only started this winter I must say you've made it really far already. Generally a nice, retrospective and hypnotic atmosphere in the track.
Some feedback:
- Not a big fan of the lead introduced at 1:25 to be honest. It sounds a bit too hard-trancey for my liking.
- I think the track needs a bit more percussion, and also some more variation in the percussion.
- The main pad (the one that has a really sharp sound) could use some variation - for instance in the breakdown. Try to make just a small variation of the midi in the breakdown, and try to automate the filter-cutoff just a little bit. It does sound too sharp at times.
- Kick and bassline doesn't sound so bad here, but my room isn't acoustically treated either.

Thanks profane!!
And thanks both of you for the feedback, I really have to do something about the percussion, theres actually none in there except Snare and HH. And I`ll see what I can do about the pad, it is already automated, maybe I´ll change that. But I won`t change the hard-trance lead, I like it that way, hehehe
I use Cubase 6 and only soft synths, I took my christmas bonus from work and invested it into my own little recording studio.

Allright,
took your advice into account and changed some things over the weekend, a new percussion loop, played around with the pad, lowered kick & bass just a tiiiny bit and I played around with panning and EQ`s a bit more.
However, I did not change the "hardtrance-lead" you guys didn`t like, I tried somethings and came up with awesome synths along the way, however I just really think this lead fits well in this song and Im gonna use the other cool synths I created in my next track. Anyways, here`s the new version (I dont know why, but soundcloud really butchered it this time, particularly the percussion sounds much tighter "in real life" and that weird ringing above the kick isnt there either and the hardtrance lead sounds kinda distorted all of a sudden...weird???)

hey aje!
ok maybe I'm the only one but I like the lead..
in my opinion the lead is very nice, keep it like this
..I like the feel, the tempo and the combination lead-bass..nice..
I prefer the first part
the second part(after the break) seems too long I would shorten it but just my opinion...
overall sounds good in my shitty headphones..

@ Nabla, yay, finally someone likes my lead!! And know its very long, but i like it that way, I have always had a fondness for slow-building tracks over 10 minutes, hehehe
@ Nomad, thanks! And yes, I know exactly where I am going, my ultimate goal is to create a style called "Goa-House", in other words I want to take the psychedelic/goa sound aesthetic combine it with house grooves and slow it down to 120-125. But not like psytrance-artists who now make house or techno, but properly psychedelic sounds. But, it shouldn`t sound like Psy-Chill House either, it still has to be pumping and danceable.
I hope that makes any sense at all, hahaha, I haven`t quite gotten to that sound just yet, the track posted here is still alot too fast for what I have in mind, I find its quite hard to pull it off successfully at such slow speeds, and I need to practice some more...
