Hi !
I hope anyone of you could help me.
Often when i try to make psy trance i don´t get far,
mostly because often i end up with the same same sounding bd and bass.
Which doesn´t get good even though i spend much time with eq and use compressor on it,
Allways the bd an bass seem to take up to much space in the midrange.
It also sounds to boomy and muddy dunno why.
When i compare with other trance i like for example comsa the bd and bass seem to lay perfect in
low register leaving space for everything else.
I have a link to a streaming mp3 which shows how my bass and basedrum allways sounds like here http://www2.hemsida.net/infinitium/BDANDBASS.m3u.
I hope anyone can help me with some advice and suggestions on how i can make it sound better.
Best regards Conny

It seems to me that your kickbass combo there could be improved in a combination of at least three ways:
- The kick could be louder than the bass.
- The kick could be boosted in the low end, and lowered in the highs too. A boost anywhere between 60 and 90 Hz, to your liking.
- Lowpass both together to your liking.
A nice trick is switching to a professional track real quick while you're working on your kickbass combo, so you can compare and make adjustments.
There's many tricks and styles of kick/bass combos. You'll read about many of them on this forum. You don't have to use all of them at the same time. As always, use your ears. Listen carefully to professional tracks you admire, at the same volume as your work. |
